Budget Car Rental

I rented a car from Budget in LA and drove it to Eugene. I paid extra for a plug-in hybrid, but when I got the car in LA, the battery was dead. Not a huge deal but when I mentioned it to the staff in Eugene, where I returned the car, they took no responsibility at all. They said, "That's not our car. You have to talk to the LA office." This is a totally unprofessional approach that is not customer-centric. They had no desire help me. About six weeks later, I was renting another car, this time from Budget Eugene, at the airport. I had pre-booked and pre-paid with my credit card online. When it was time to pick up the car, I upgraded to an AWD SUV. But then, their system would not accept any of my credit cards (not from the US). I tried with three of them. They were unapologetic and distanced themselves from the problem and told me it was my issue. I was traveling in the US and Mexico for almost two months using those cards, and didn't have problems elsewhere. To solve it, I had to have my dad pay with his US credit card. Their general lack of customer-centricity and empathy make them a poor choice. The car was good though.

Budget EUG has given us 1 too many "bad" cars. First they kept giving us Nissan Pathfinders when we reserved large sedans. This may not be a problem for all, however when you are transporting folks in their late 80s and early 90s, running boards as a step up into a vehicle doesn't work so well. The last two times, we got cars with some bug issues. 1st had its oil pan leaking, and this time, the passenger side floor boards kept filling up with water. Not sure why as seats and doors remained dry. Budget is the best deal costwise, but not worth it in the end. We have reached out to Budget several times and never heard back.

I needed a rental car for a few days. Booked online, which was reasonably easy. Best customer service EVER from Jamie at the Budget desk in the Eugene Airportprofessional and efficient, yet friendly and warm. Just delightful!!

I booked through Expedia my flight and car rental were a package deal requiring me to prepay. My flight was cut short several days due to United staffing shortage, but I still had to pay for those extra days when I didn't use the car. Couldn't get through to Expedia ever! Budget refunded! Budget should stop using Expedia
