Tammi, the property manager, is one of the most wonderful people I know. She has truly made this building feel like a home to all of us residents!

My daughter lived at Hilyard House and I got to know the manager, Tammy who is absolutely wonderful. She cares so much for her tenants. I live in Portland Oregon and its so comforting to know my daughter had a caring manager that she could go to. The apartment complex is always looks great when I came to visit and its because Tammy takes such good care of the premises.

Update after 2 years of living here: The new landlord is not the famous and loved Tammi. Which is why many people lived here. During the summer the apartments become unbearable hot because there is no AC and barely any windows. The complex is super old and all brick so that doesnt help. Many people had to evacuate due to the heat. This last year about 4 unhoused people had broken into the complex to stalk and harass tenants. Von klein had no solution but to sue the homeless people instead of improve security. Since Tammi left the place is quite literally falling apart. Ive never lived in a complex with such insane move out requirements. Its cheap and close to campus which is helpful but I would recommend somewhere safer with better protection. I cannot stress enough that multiple times disturbed unhoused people broke in and harassed tenants. I lived at the Hilyard House this year and I will be living there again next year. Tammi and Tim are amazing and care so much for their tenants. Maintenance comes most of the time the day of a fix request. For the price, proximity to campus and security it is the best choice for 2bed room and studio apartments near campus!

My first review was 5 stars and I had nothing but good things to say for the 2.5 years I've lived here, but..... I'm updating my review after it's been a month since the on-site manager, Tammie and her husband Tim moved out, and this place has gone to complete trash. The complex is constantly trashed, all the flowers Tammie was keeping alive to make the place look beautiful are now dead due to lack of care by VK, there's stuff everywhere and pieces falling off the side of the building near the elevator. Tammie was the ONLY good thing about Hilyard House and since VK treated her so awfully and she left, I can't even imagine how bad it's gonna get, glad I move out on Saturday. Not to mention the new manager literally has not smiled or said hi to anyone on the property, just put up notes telling residents to clean stuff up.
