Unfortunately, the quality of Ryland's work is subpar. I would not hire him again for any job no matter how small. Ryland was hired to install brand new, beautiful acacia hardwood stairs along with white risers.
His randomly placed nail holes using an air gun along with the fact that he did NOT finish the stairs but left the holes without puttying them left me speechless. We needed to repaint the white risers after his install. Plus, one of the risers has a 3/8 inch gap between the tread and several others have smaller gaps.
I would not recommend Ryland as a carpenter. Maybe a chum, although when I talked with him on the phone about my disappointment his response was he wasn't treated well on the job. I guess buying him Subway sandwiches for his lunch and putting up with his slow work doesn't count.
His other response as to the stair treads, "Can't you just putty them?" Sure I can, but shouldn't Ryland have done the job correctly in the first place? I would not invite him back to "repair" his job.
Quality should not be a word anywhere on his web. I'm also wondering where he acquired his license?
