Landmark Roofing recently installed a roof for us on our 2 story Victorian house in Baker City. They did a quality roof as promised and on a timely basis. We couldnt be happier.

Just popped on here to say hello and thank you to the ol' Landmark family! Miss you guys a ton and am very grateful for all the love and support I received this last year I was employed by you! A company that cares for the work life balance for their employees is very hard to find. I was honored to be a part of the changes and improvements you all were making. I wish I could have stayed in Baker longer to see all the hard work come to full fruition, but I am super grateful to be back home and thank you again for your encouragement and support in making that decision.

BEWARE!!! Landmark used to be a respectable company (as you can see, most of the good reviews are older). I was employed there for almost three years. However, their quality the last year I worked to present has taken a MAJOR decline. Although they will try to claim that Im just a disgruntled past employee, I wanted to leave an honest review of what I witnessed while with the company, and what Ive seen since I was let go just a year ago and heard various other customers complain about. Harvey Ropp is an employee of Landmark, not a customer, and theyre using his 5 stars to bolster their rating. The owner of Landmark (Sam Brown), seems to be lacking in the integrity department. As an employee, I was constantly told by Sam to do work below industry standard to save time and cut costs. Sam himself was one of the sloppiest roofers I have ever seen. He would prioritize speed, and neglect installing products up to the manufacturer's specs (such as using silicone in place of step flashing, improper nail patterns, and using products that are not designed to be on certain types of roofing applications). Look at the Baker County Library in Baker City, as well as the Club 24 and the old NAPA buildings in Pendleton. These are examples that ended in complete disaster (as well as lawsuits to the best of my knowledge). And finally, theres the treatment of employees. As previously mentioned, I was a faithful employee for almost three years. Myself and other employees were badgered by Sam and the main crew foreman to break safety protocol when there was low odds of getting caught by OSHA. You can see how many times theyve been fined for this on OSHAs website. After being inspected by OSHA on a job I was working on, in which I was instructed by the crew lead NOT to wear my safety gear in order to save time, I was let go. Sam then kept my personal tools which I had to sue him for and only then got them returned. There were also thousands of dollars I was owed in salary that Landmark refused to pay me. After I filed a labor complaint with BOLI, I won the claim forcing them to pay the owed salary plus damages. Its sad that it took the Bureau of Labor and Industry to keep them honest not just for me, but for many other employees that they had done the same thing to. While I was there, Landmarks zero tolerance policy was never enforced to my awareness and many of the employees abused substances and had criminal records. I heard from one crew foreman that one of his crew fell two stories off a roof in Wallowa while high on meth. Another one fled the job because he was high as well. Im still in contact with some select former Landmark employees who had similar ordeals of mistreatment and had to work alongside drug users and criminals to keep their job. My experience with Landmark showcased how shady they are in taking advantage of both employees and customers.
