        UPDATE: Owner did reach out and said they will correct the issue. I do stand by our experience with the lack of customer service by the associate they had working at the time. Changed from 1 star to 3. We have purchased thousands of dollars worth of books here over the years however, we will no longer. The new owners are definitely nothing like the old.Today we tried to use some gift certificates purchased by our PTO, they refused to honor them because someone on their end forgot to write down the numbers. So essentially the PTO donated $50 to their bank account. I'm trying not to mention the political bias of the owners, but if you're looking for a book by say Mark Levine, you will likely not find it here. That I don't care much about, but being dishonest to recipients of their gift certificates is completely unforgivable. When confronted with it, the young man behind the counter was like tough luck.

      Hi Jack, we are sorry you had this experience. We have continued to and always honor gift certificates. In fact, we just matched gift certificates in amount that Brooklyn PTO purchased. I’m not certain what the problem was. As the owner, I would be happy to connect with you on this. If I had been made aware of your concerns through say an email or phone call, I would have addressed immediately. Unfortunately, finding out through reading a google review that there was a problem does not allow for good and supportive communication with clearly dedicated book lovers in our community! It’s unfortunate that something like this, that could easily be remedied with a conversation, has changed your stance on supporting your independent bookstore of 44 years. We are proud to carry a diverse selection of books for a variety of readers, and we do special orders constantly as there is only so much space and too many wonderful books in the world! We are especially proud of the donations we make consistently to our wonderful community. Hope to hear from you soon about those gift certificates. 📚📚📖📖❤️❤️
