CMVF changed my life and marriage for the better. It was hard work and being honest with myself and others can be at times painful. The staff showed a healthy regards for boundaries while at the same time being genuine, warm, and compassionate. God works through imperfect people and I am deeply grateful for my +3 years of help and counseling provided.

This place is absolutely horrible, awful, and sick. If “God made us in his image”, why are we discriminating against these children of God? If you are considering going here and you happen to see this: you have support, you have love, and there are many churches that love God, and also love and support you exactly the way God made you.

I was referred to Mid-Valley Fellowship by my Pastor to get help. I needed help with a serious issue that threatened to devastate my marriage. I went to the appointment and it was very cold, very secular, very impersonal, and honestly I felt like God was "checked" at the door the same way my wife was. There was no prayer, none at all. No opening prayer, no closing prayer, nothing. I was asked about my faith, which I confirmed as Christian and that I needed faith based and Christ centered help. I would think that I would at least be asked if I wanted prayer after all the ugly issues I opened up about, but there was nothing. My wife actually left a 1 star review but since she was not allowed to the intake, the reply simply said she never went to counseling here. While that may be technically true, she never went because I was told, "we simply don't do that here". She was not allowed to get counseling with me. Later I was told that, "I wanted her to rescue me because my heart was not right." I didn't want her to rescue me, I wanted to get counseling to help rescue her! We had spent 2 months in constant prayer, we fasted for 3 days 2 different times, we got to the absolute raw truth of the issue which devastated her and then she was literally left out. We held onto the hope of this place helping while waiting on the appointment. I told the counselor all of this. Basically, after destroying my wife and having her support me getting to the raw truth, she was left out to deal with the aftermath on her own. No, she did not need individual counseling...WE needed marriage counseling. My wife cried for another full day feeling like she was once again left out to dry on her own. I felt like I was telling her, 'thanks for the help, I appreciate it. Sorry for your trouble and pain. I'll see if you're welcome to come in in a few months. Hope you survive.' I sought out Biblically based counseling that was centered on Christ for a reason. My wife and I are ONE flesh, WE needed help...not me, WE. I was told that she wasn't allowed in case I needed to talk about things I didn't want her to hear! I don't need a safe space, I needed help with the truth! We have decided to get marriage counseling through our Pastor. So yes, it was cold, secular, impersonal and cruel to my wife. One flesh was not recognized, prayer was not offered. It was 50 minutes of cold questions and me answering them. Jesus was not invited to the meeting.

This person has never received support at Mid-Valley Fellowship. We are a Christian counseling ministry, offering individual and group support to those seeking healing and transformation in their lives. Our staff are all followers of Christ, our programs are based on Biblical foundations, and we utilize prayer and scripture to varying degrees in our counseling sessions. We serve people from a number of church traditions, so the degree to which we use prayer or scripture in sessions may be greater or less than is consistent with their particular tradition.

We offer individual counseling and support groups for both men and women who are navigating their journey of sexual wholeness, whether in their own struggle or those of a spouse or family member. The needs of a person struggling vary significantly from those of a spouse. Due to the dynamics of that, we have found that offering individual support to each person is a valuable starting point. Marriage counseling is something we offer after each person has some grounding in their personal journey. Others have a different approach, but this is the approach we have found to be effective. Our staff is also imperfect and in-process, as all followers of Christ are. When situations come up where we have misstepped, we make an effort to own what needs to be owned and communicate where there is misunderstanding.
