“Mr. Murnan, We share your frustration at this issue as well and are grateful you brought the details to our attention. Our first priority at LifeSpring is to provide the best quality care to our patients – your family members and when an issue arises that interferes, we too, can be frustrated in our attempts to provide care. In this instance, the discharging physician did not provide specific orders for our nurses specifying the content of care. Since the wound was already dressed with a non-removeable bandage, our nurse was not allowed to see the wound when we started care. We are grateful that the daughter of the patient told us that the patient went back to the hospital due to an infection which may have been prevented had we received the orders. Although we repeatedly contacted the physician, we still were not able to receive specific daily wound care orders until the 11th. There is never an excuse for lack of treatment, but our nurses cannot exceed the doctor’s orders without jeopardizing their license. It is our honor to continue to treat your father and all others as we would our own family and we are sorry that your family had to intervene to help us obtain the necessary orders.”
