My tiel didnt get better in the 10 days she got worse i took her some where else, the vet was confused why they gave her pain meds only and no antibiotics. She ended getting and infection on top of her egg peritonitis.....she passed away

They really helped me with one of my previous Guinea pigs Sherlock who had overgrown back teeth. I was initially impressed with them bc the previous vet I went to didnt even notice my boys back teeth were overgrown on themselves so he couldnt eat (he was deteriorating really fast at the time). So when they helped me so much with that, regular back teeth trimmings, they saved his life, I knew Id be going back to them with future Guinea pigs. Im rethinking that now though. Because a couple years ago I was having an issue with one of my female Guinea pigs. She was losing weight and chewing off hair on both her sides. There was clearly something really wrong. But, what ended up happening was we were put through a rigamoroll of trial and error things. Lets see if its all these different things before we see if its a serious thing. They justified it by saying they wouldnt want to do surgery right away if its a minor thing that can be fixed easily. Like bro, no. If theres no signs of mites then lets not trying treating her for that. Theres never been an issue with her cage bedding so can we not waste our time with that? Finally when they decided lets do an exploratory surgery they found ovarian cysts and tumors all over. She died that same night we took her home. It could have been avoided if they didnt keep making me go in for visits to try a whole bunch of things before ACTUALLY seeing if there was something seriously wrong. I guess they dont have ultrasound capabilities there or something, but honestly I find that a flimsy excuse. It just makes me think they just wanted to squeeze me for all the money I had instead of thinking wow this Guinea pig doesnt look very good and is showing clear signs of ovarian cysts, maybe we should look into that. I dont know if another vet would put me through the same trial of tests but Im sure someone out there could have helped me way sooner instead of stringing me along. They didnt even tell me that her dying was a possibility after her surgery. They just said it went really well. They made me hopeful and then I had to wake up the next morning to find her in full rigor mortis, dead. Ive never screamed like that in my life. They severely failed me and my Jellybean. We didnt need to lose her, but wasting time and my money on all this dumb stuff when clearly she was not okay. Hair loss on the sides is a very common sign of ovarian cysts and should be checked out right away as I have learned since then. Im very disappointed and currently trying to look for a new exotics vet for any future issues I may have. Im not going through a stupid rigamoroll again. Ill stand up for my Guinea pigs instead of letting myself get strung along.

We are sorry you had a bad experience...we just wish you would have let us know that you had an issue TWO YEARS AGO when this occured! Sorry you felt that we dropped the ball on your guinea pig. I will say that we don't do anything here just to run up the cost to our clients...our clients mean a lot to us, and we do everything we can to make their veterinary care affordable! The Biden Administration has made this extremely difficult!
