Hochatown Escape Games

Four of us did the virus room, and it was fun! The room was pretty well worn as one of the physical/mechanical gags did not work, the books are falling apart, and some of the numbers and letters on some of the locks were pretty worn and hard to read. But with a couple of hints, we were able to succeed with 45 seconds to spare! If we had time, we might have done a second room and used their return discount.

I came here on a college friends trip and I had two lovely ladies help me - Khloe and Laklyn. They were so sweet and helped my group whenever we needed it.Lakely was specifcally so kind to us and was so fun to talk to. Always had a smile on her face and made us all left; she made an effort to get to know us all too :) I would def come here again and 10/10 recommend. (only con was we had a lot of issues w our walkietalkie)

I had a booking for tonight at 8:30PM, we were running a little late, my wife called ahead almost 30 minutes before our scheduled time, nobody answered. We proceeded to call 4 more times 8:30, nobody ever answered. We arrived about 15 minutes after 8:30 and the location was already locked and nobody was here. This is ridiculous that nobody was even answering the phone. Waiting to see how they approach this or attempt to make it right.

My spouse and I have done over 80 escape experiences, and I can solidly say that Hochatown Escape Games is not terribly good. We did their Oval Office room, which they told us is a brand new room. Based on other reviews, it seems like they attempted to up the technology level for this room, and that may have been a very poor decision. Our group was able to quickly assemble clues, but then the tech simply didn't work the way it was supposed to, leaving us without any possible path forward until we summoned a game master for a clue. The game master had to spend minutes messing with equipment and poking things in unintuitive ways to force the room to progress. No time was added back onto the clock for these technical failures of the room either. On top of that, we were clearly instructed that no more force than a single finger would be needed to open anything, and that was also completely untrue (and cost us another clue). The overall design of the room and the theme generally worked, but at least 2 puzzles were also extremely poorly clued, leaving us second guessing what we'd found. The icing on this poor cake was that the game masters were disinterested and not paying attention to the room, so when technical failures were happening, they were oblivious until summoned to the room by the request for a clue. All of this combined to create a room that wasn't fun and whose challenge was more about patience with the tech than solving clues and puzzles. I'd recommend finding another game, or at least avoiding any technologically advanced rooms by Hochatown Escape Games.

We are new to escape rooms and had a wonderful time doing the Cabin Fever room here. It was so well thought out, detailed, and intricate enough to keep us on our toes! We would definitely recommend this to anyone looking for a fun hour-long activity in Hochatown.
