Edited review - dropped down to 2 stars - So unfortunately my experience went south. The hygienist that I requested to have, Darla, was great. She made you feel comfortable and she was so friendly. I really liked her. The girl that does the fillings (YES! A hygienist fills the cavities here NOT the dentist) is rude and if you tell her something is bothering you on the work she did, well, that's just wrong and unacceptable. They shouldn't have a hygienist do the fillings or any work that a dentist should be doing. I don't care if she was "trained". This is a person's mouth and needs a well experienced dentist doing this. I had to have fillings each visit I went. So I had to deal with this young woman 4 times, because each time after the numbing wore off, I could feel jagged edges, big bumps, and other problems with the fillings. I was so numb in the office that I couldn't tell at the time. The dentist would drill, then she did everything else. He didn't even check it after she was done. I live an hour from the office so you can imagine how inconvenient it was to have to go back the next day to get it fixed. What's even more upsetting is her denial she did anything wrong and she can't see what I can feel. It's MY mouth and I can tell when something is wrong. She would become rude and nasty and have that "how dare you complain about MY work!" attitude. Even when I tried to tell the dentist about it, he stayed on her side. It was very upsetting. The last filling left me with a huge gap between my teeth and when I flossed I could feel a ridge and pointed edges. I decided I wasn't going back here and instead went to another place that was closer to me that didn't take Medicaid (sometimes I think you getting treated bad because you are on this insurance) but it takes my Delta dental that I have through my employer. They looked at my xrays and sure enough, the contouring was bad on the two teeth where the cavity was the girl filled last and there was a huge ridge at the bottom and that's why I was getting food stuck and having so many issues. After the hygienist and dentist at Smiles tell me they didn't see anything and basically it was in my head, knowing I was not mistaken was a sigh of relief. But now I have to pay $139 out of pocket to get fixed what they messed up. Again, a hygienist shouldn't be trusted with such a delicate process of filling a cavity. Only a dentist should be doing this cause they have more training. I no longer recommend this dental practice. When I tell you something is wrong, don't dismiss me. I was treated very poorly when I kept saying something is wrong I can feel it. The girl that does the fillings was down right nasty and wouldn't even try to understand me. The dentist tried to do a couple things but eventually he said well, that gap will close over time. I said why do I feel a big point on my tooth? When I floss, how come the floss is going under my tooth and getting caught? He said that was simply how my tooth is now cause the cavity was so big. He was wrong. I'm glad I went somewhere else and got a second opinion. But now, I have to pay out of pocket for what Delta won't cover due to the incompetency of this dental practice. My son and I just had our first cleaning here. I was very impressed with how friendly and professional everyone was. I've had some bad experiences with dentists and this was by far the most pleasant experience at a dental practice. This is now our dental provider. If you're looking for a very good dentist, I highly recommend them!
