I drive a 10 year old 2010 Lexus ES, that has been very reliable over the years. About two years ago my ac went belly up, and Lexus recharged it and could not find the leak. This made them suspect it was in the evaporator core which is very inaccessible. They estimated in the neighborhood of $2500 to replace. They wouldn't guarantee it would fix the problem because they could not verify the leak was there. It was a slow leak, and after a year the car needed another charge. I decided to try Mr. Mechanic who charged me about half of what Lexus did for a recharge, which worked for several months. They also suspected the leak was in the evaporator core. When this charge ran out in just a few months, I decided to bite the bullet and have Mr. Mechanic fix it. By now the mechanic had acquired a sniffer, which was able to verify the leak was in the core. They estimated about $1600. The cost was so high because of the labor required to remove the entire dash to access the part. They replaced the part and all is well. I had been concerned about the removal of the dash and how it would reinstall. Thankfully, they did a masterful job and you cannot tell it was out. They also cleaned up and sanitized the inside of the car. The best part is they came in under the estimate by nearly $100. I will not hesitate to return to them for future service.

I own a car dealership and one of my customers took my car here for a pre purchase inspection. Keep in mind we inspect all our cars mechanically and fix any issues. Most shops will then proceed to make up a 2k bill saying things need replaced when they don't and it makes me look bad when in reality they are the shady ones. However this place came to the same conclusion we did and didn't try to make things up and lie which is unusual in the industry. Mr. Mechanic seems to be an honest place to do business.
