image Disclaimer: This is the story of my experience. Others may have a better experience with this facility.
I worked here for two days, part time, and I was able to bring my 2 year old daughter for free, which I thought was very nice. My daughter was in the toddler class and I helped with the preschool class. The reason I was only there for two days is because my daughter got sunburned because they either didn't apply sun screen at all, or they didnt apply it properly before going outside. When I spoke to the director about my concern, she said they're not outside that long (they were out for 30 minutes, which is enough time to get a sunburn.) She seemed confused as to why I was upset, like it's normal for kids to get sunburned at a day care. She asked me if I brought sunscreen for her, which I did(spf50), with her name written on the bottle. But even if I didn't, they should have extra to put on her like we did for the preschool class. The director said to me, "well toddlers move a lot so it's hard to get sunscreen on them". I told her that my daughter has been outside plenty of times and I've never had a problem putting sunscreen on her and she has never gotten a sunburn. (In fact, she likes to put sunscreen on and thinks it's fun!) Then she told me I can bring a light sweater for her to wear outside. Why would I have my child wear a sweater in 80 degree weather with no shade when sunscreen works just fine, if applied properly! Her complete lack of concern made me decide to quit and not send my daughter there. Two days after I quit, my daughter ran a high fever that wouldn't go down, along with other symptoms, so I took her to the doctor and found out she had strep throat, which caused a double ear infection. I know she came in contact with the bacteria while at day care because the only place she had been the past 5+ days was daycare and home. It takes 2-5 days for symptoms to show up after coming in contact with the bacteria. This made me believe that the toys and equipment were not properly disinfected. While I was there, I saw that the toddler teachers have all the toddlers dip their hands in the same tub of soapy water and then dry their hands. That was their way of "washing" the toddlers hands, which is unsanitary. My daughter goes to public places often, she has played with other kids and been in contact with germs, but I make sure she properly washes and/or sanitizes her hands before eating and after playing, which helps prevent bacteria and viruses from spreading and infecting her. This should be done at a day care as well.
My daughter had to suffer with pain from a sunburn and pain and discomfort from strep throat and ear infections due to improper care. The sunburn and strep throat could have been easily been prevented with proper sanitation and care.
