The Mount Vernon Inn

My wife and I stayed here for a couple of days, just as a get out of town trip. The inn is absolutely lovely, even after several inches of unexpected snow fell! Breakfast was delicious and everyone was a delight. The room itself was simple and comfortable and the only issue was from our heater dieing in mid February (not their fault, obviously). However, management got a repairmen up quick and got it repaired while letting us know theyd take care of us if it couldnt be. We'll definitely be coming back!

We made an unexpected trip to Mount Vernon and stayed at the inn for the first time. Thankfully, we got the last room available! Upon arriving in the main house, we were greeted by Alex, who checked us in and told us to return for a complimentary glass of wine or beer. She was so sweet and was waiting for us after we took our things to our room. The wine was delicious and there were fresh baked cookies available for snacking. The jazz music playing was delightful and relaxing. It was like being in a movie (according to my wife, Shelby). Our room was spotless and comfortable. We were in room 24 which has 2 double beds (we usually reserve a King but as I said we were blessed to get the last room available). It was great! We slept well and went to the dining room for breakfast. Breakfast was made to order and included, fruits, juice, coffee served on Crate & Barrel dishes. Fresh flowers adorned the tables. This is where we first met Kate, who served our breakfast. She is fabulous, very attentive and thorough. Fast forward to the 2nd morning....I was under the weather and skipped breakfast but Shelby went to the dining room and while eating she mentioned that to Kate. Kate then offered to make me some dry toast to settle my stomach & boxed it up for me. That was so considerate! We will definitely be staying here again, as it appears we will be returning sooner rather than later. Huge thanks to Kate & Alex!!! They are fantastic assets to the inn!

What a wonderful experience. We rented the house which was perfect. The breakfast was amazing every morning, and we loved the complimentary glass of wine each night. We can't wait to return in the spring and summer when the gardens will be in full bloom.
