We appreciate reviews and we take ownership when a mistake has been made but we believe this is a misrepresentation of our organization. While we admit 2020 was a difficult year for everyone, we made a decision to take over a failing business that was a few weeks from closing the business and right before Covid started. While we expected the previous owners to complete the 2020 tax returns for their clients, they unfortunately were stricken with covid and we needed to shut the office down for a month as many of the employees tested positive for covid. The safety of our employees and clients is important to us. Since this was an issue for many businesses in the US, the government extended the tax due date and waived any penalties that may have occurred. We were not made aware of any penalties for this client. This client decided to use our organization for their tax return in 2021 as well. We also assist their business in basic accounting and payroll as well as this clients’ parents. In 2021, the client dropped off their tax documents to us on April 5, 2021 which is 10 days before the deadline. Just two days later on April 7, 2021, our tax preparer contacted the client and left a voicemail that we needed some additional documents from them in order for us to complete the tax return. Since we had yet to receive the additional requested documents and to ensure the client would not be charged a late filing fee, we filed an extension with the IRS on April 15, 2021. The client then provided the documents to us and we completed the tax return, notified the client, they signed the tax return and we filed it for them on May 18, 2021.
