image The Judge (Judge Christopher Brown) while making a fair judgement for my son, was very rude and belittling to his mother and I today in court. His behavior was predicated by an innacurate account from the prosecutor about his mother and I arguing who would sit with him during the pretrial, when in fact we were just trying to figure out where to sit since there werent enough chairs around the defendant table. My son did express with some discontent that he thought his mother should sit with the prosecutor since she was involved with pressing the charges. At no point were his mother and I arguing with anyone inside of the courtroom. The prosecutor and the defense attorney both did witness his mother and I having some amount of disagreement outside of the courtroom from which they painted a very negative picture. There was no yelling, screaming or hostility. Only disagreements about the case. Just because we have disagreements does not mean we are bad parents. The judge sure seemed to think so though from the way he scolded us right in front of our son after hearing a very inflated version of the disagreements from both the attorneys. When I raised my hand to politely inform the Judge that the reports by the attorneys were innacurate in part, he sternly warned me that interrupting him would be "one of the worst mistakes that id id ever make" All i wanted to do is speak. Are there laws against this??? Maybe we caught him on a bad day, but geesh. I feel he disrespected us in front of our son and abused his power a bit in the process. I understand that with some parents, this may be a necessary tactic, but we arent those kind of parents. Every case has unique dynamics. Unique people with differing personalities and values. My sons mother and I place a very high value on our relationship with our son. We certainly were not treated accordingly. Instead, we were disrespected by not even being permitted to utter a single word. It was completely unfair and unwarranted for him to treat us like that!
