My husband and I are seeking a construction-to-mortgage loan & made it clear were trying to get this process started asap. This is not an unusual loan request at all. People choose to have their houses built all of the time. I decided to reach out to Liberty after reading some reviews & triple checking that their website clearly stated they offer this type of financing. I was also very detailed in my initial inquiry regarding our needs. I was linked with Joe A., quickly submitted an application, & provided all necessary documents. Our credit was hard-pulled & I was contacted by Joe right away with the pre-approval amount we requested, which was great, except it was for a conventional mortgage & Joe stated he had no idea that we were seeking a construction loan, which makes me believe all the details I initially communicated went completely overlooked. Joe proceeded to assure me that he could still help, that they work with another entity that provides construction loans, that he would still be our point of contact throughout the construction phase & after when the loan is then transferred into a mortgage, & that he would reach out to them, get us a new pre-approval, & contact me back to discuss. Cool, except I never heard back. After a handful of days, I tried reaching out to Joe again directly & was completely ignored. Its been about 2 weeks & still nothing. Ive since started the pre-approval process with another lender, but still. If you dont truly offer construction loans, take down the false info & just say that? I know were first time home buyers & new to this process, but I assumed most lenders would prioritize communication & customer service, especially in the initial stages. We cant really proceed any further, meet with builders, etc. until we get an accurate pre-approval. Even if you cant help in one particular circumstance, having the decency to simply explain that & maybe even offer further direction is a great way to increase the likelihood of adopting potential future clients if/when another need arises. Not to mention how word of mouth + online reviews sway many. Just saying. This process is harrowing & stressed out people will leave an honest review.
