The staff is amazing and very knowledgeable. There is a family vibe between the staff and students. I feel this connection makes it easier to bring out the best in each student. My daughter loves her lessons and is so proud of what she accomplishes each time.

The staff and mgt of this ensemble really has their hearts into sharing music with its students. Sophia has taught me so much and easy to work with and has adjusted my learning to my own needs. Devon really is the soul of our break out group, is professional, has lot of heart and seems to connect with each member on a different level not to mention his talents. Allison does it all as a coordinator from the front desk and as a student and band member and pleasantness. Jess, Louis and Joe have been nothing but professional and in tune with whats going on. I wish i had know about this program when my boys were in school, this is not your average band camp. As an adult, the graduate class was just what what every aspiring musician needs to dig deeper into music and share it with others.

Full disclosure: We ended up at SOR after a tumultuous year of battling severe mental health issues with our teen. We were in and out of hospitalizations, talk therapy, group therapy, in-home based therapy, intensive outpatient therapy, school transfers, guidance counselors, case workers, doctors, medications, safety plans, 504's...
You name it, we tried it.
We felt that what our kid *actually* needed was a win. A self-esteem building experience that would link her with other kids of similar interests. Something to build confidence and give a sense of community.
I truly feel that SOR has done that and then some. She looks forward to the lessons and (to our surprise) loves the shows. She started as a total beginner and after her first season graduated to the main stage program. She even won the coveted 'show poster' for being a leader in her group- An award that was given to her on stage, in front of her peers. I will *never* forget the look on her face when they called her name.
I know that SOR at face value is a facility for music lessons, but to us it's been so much more. I feel like I have my kid back. She's so much more happy and confident. There are obviously a lot of different factors at play, but I firmly believe that this program was an integral part of her recovery. Since starting there her academic performance has improved, her social and family relationships have flourished, and most importantly - She believes in her own magic again.
I also wanted to shout out SOR for their anti-bullying campaigns, youth suicide awareness efforts, and mental health webinars! They genuinely understand what teens are faced with these days and are actually committed to making a difference.
I recommend SOR wholeheartedly and without reservation! If you're on the fence, this is your sign.
