My relationship with Matt Ray and Sherlock Homes goes way back to 2019 when I first started looking to become a home owner. I chose Matt because he had a background that WAS NOT IN SALES OR BUSINESS. He was in his 40's at the time and had just gone into real estate full time a year or so prior after leaving his job as a college professor. This was important to me because I didn't need a car salesman selling me a house. Being in business and having done sales before, I didn't need a salesman, I needed an expert to lean on for information to help me make a smart purchase for myself and my future goals/plans. From day one Matt was exactly what I was looking for and more. He practices "all good business is personal" to a tee. He genuinely cares, he genuinely wants to help you fulfill your real estate purchasing/selling goal, and genuinely wants to do it as financially smart as possible. He goes to bat for you, negotiates for you in a reasonable way not to scare off the other party. Matt is not pushy in any way, he's patient, he's flexible, and only speaks up to advise you in a direction if it's REALLY in your best interest. I love that. We had a successful deal in Athens Ohio in 2019 after the first home we made an offer for used our offer to leverage another offer for more money. It worked out great the second time around. I got the "worst home" in a great neighborhood, great deal and great home. I turned around and sold that property with Matt for 25% gain to move back home to Gallia County Ohio. Fast forward to late spring/summer of 2021, same story for Matt and I. Found a home, made an offer with an escalation clause, but the seller used it to leverage another for sale by owner offer. Then my dream home came up on the market. Matt was the seller's rep. and got me a visit within 24 hours, made an offer with an escalation clause and inked a purchase contract. Now I'm going to write out the long version of this story below, but to keep it as short as possible: little did I know, this purchase would take over 2 years to close. The seller passed away during the process, the deed had errors that had to be resolved with family members that were in hospice and not of able mind and needed state guardianship appointment, and then negotiated with. The seller also dropped Matt as the selling agent so he ended up getting no fruits for any of his labor, having had 2 years of work in the home BEFORE I got my purchase contract, from mowing and maintaining the property as well as multiple listing and countless showing appointments. An estate would have to be settled, mountains had to be moved. Matt stuck by my side, he helped me every step of the way, with no financial gain to come from it. He's good people and he wanted me to get taken care of because he knew what I was going through and had been through. Since that deal in 2019, we've formed a close relationship, one I'd call a friendship. I've referred him to everyone I know that has any real estate need whether that's residential or commercial. Ultimately, if you don't want a pushy salesman as your agent, want someone that genuinely cares about you and the outcome and doesn't place the dollar above doing the right thing, then there's no question Sherlock Homes is the right choice for anyone looking to purchase within 100 miles of Gallipolis, Ohio. My husband and I found the home of our dreams, the only problem was we lived 2400 miles away. We called Matt at Sherlock Homes Realty and he walked us through the buying process every step of the way. Since we couldnt see the home in person, he took pictures of everything he could find that was broken, or just not quite right. We took a leap of faith and bought it sight unseen and were so happy with the care Matt took to make sure we were completely aware of everything that might have stopped us from buying the home. He even found people to mow the lawn for us until we were able to get out here. Since then, hes answered every question Ive had about the neighborhood. Hes certainly gone well above and beyond to make such a great experience.
