Dear reader, do you know the feeling when you desperately want to know your future but you have exhausted the free online oracle decks? Such are the moments when lighthouses enter our lives. I had heard many things of this particular light - that the view was inspirational, that it hails from the 1871-era, that it is a mildly acoustic spot to serenade one's long lost love when one is very sure that their love will forever be unrequited unless a certain person happens to be walking on the water and hears a plaintive melody echoing from a distant shore and it reminds them of fall and comfortable chill and the eras of pumpkin spice before its viral avarice, that the beach glass in the area was above average - but I had not anticipated that during the summer it offers tours. Unfortunately, I had to leave the site soon after arriving, being tailed by an ambitious walleye named Ronny who never saw me without passing on his original poetry and whom I was beginning to realize would make a better pen pal than a fair weather lover. Still, I promised to pass on his most recent work: I cannot help but catch my own eye as I watch the refractions of what may be And still the waters of my fractured mind To gain a glimpse of what I ought to see And if you glean a glance behind, you'll find The world careening through itself and feel The way it lurches up and gasps for air Beyond the cloud and what it might reveal Because there is no small repeat of fate That begs questions of what it will create.

It was a beautiful day to walk out to the lighthouse. Start at the buckeye trail and don't walk the beach since it is a protected area. There's a view of the lake the entire way. It was windy when we walked it and waves were splashing up against the breakers. The lighthouse is blocked off and you can't go in. You can however walk around it and go out on the breakers. The lighthouse is pretty and its nice to get up close.
