Bethel Baptist Church-West Carrollton

Due to the trauma being a part of this church caused me, I cannot, in good conscience, recommend it to anyone. They are racist, homophobic, transphobic, sexist, and generally bigoted in doctorine, and that is reflected in many of the more devoted members of this church. Deconstructing everything they taught me has been a journey, but one I recommend any of the members who sees this review take, you will be happier in the end. Undoing all the bigoted beliefs I held has allowed me to connect to people in a real way, and allowed me to love them, and myself. While in the church that was an impossible task. They told me to forgive and love my abusers, that my assault was my fault, and so many more extremely harmful things. I was here from 2nd grade to 7th grade. I threw myself into it as a means to cope with the abuse I endured outside of it, not knowing I was throwing myself into even more abuse. Please, find a different church. This one, both the community inside it and the doctrine it upholds, is abusive, unhealthy, and will only hurt you. Stay safe. You deserve better, you deserve love, real, true love.
