My PAID OFF vehicle ( which I planned on driving another 100,000 miles) was totaled by an Encova client. Their client was cited for the accident. The process of dealing with them has been difficult, to say the least. I expect what Im dealing with is the corporate insurance game (short term shareholder profits vs handling things in a proper and human way). It is possible to make a profit AND treat people right. The employees Ive dealt with have been OK. The issues are with Encovas business philosophy and practices which their employees abide by. These are the issues:: rental was only provided for 7 days, the employee stating this is just a convenience for you???? Their client totaled my vehicle. Am I meant to express undying gratitude? 4 days to assess and total my vehicle, 4-5 days for me to research a fair market value for my vehicle (which everyone understands has nothing to do with the value to me), I was told if I didnt like that number I could find my own comps? Pretty sure that isnt my job. I was told payoff for my vehicle takes 14 BUSINESS days and comes via SNAILMAIL. Are you kidding me??? This is 2024 right? Who sends a $10,700 check through the mail? You dont release funds for 2 weeks? Big safety concerns here. Why is it not a certified OVERNIGHT delivery?? Or a direct transfer to my bank account? A cost of $5 maybe?? Unbelievable. So here I am recovering from a concussion sustained in the accident, unable to work until symptoms resolve, NO transportation, NO money to buy a replacement vehicle for 14 business days and a significant financial impact to my life. None of it my responsibility. Clearly a profit motive behind these company policies. Im angry and exhausted. I am, however, so very grateful I was not injured worse or killed. I hope never to deal with Encova again. We all pay into the insurance system our entire lives. If we are lucky we rarely need to utilize our collective benefits, when and if we do, we ALL deserve to be treated like human beings with kindness, consideration and respect, not held hostage by bad company policies and philosophies. .

We looked into your claim and found that an Encova field specialist advised that your vehicle was a total loss and you were provided a rental car for seven days from that date. Our total loss evaluations are completed by an independent company, and it is routine to ask a customer to provide documentation of comparable vehicles and sales prices for our reconsideration if they disagree with the assessment. As you agreed to the settlement based on our total loss evaluation, we were unable to extend your rental term and issued you a check on March 21 that was deposited on March 28.
