100% would not recommend. This school cares nothing about the kids health, nor their stress levels. The teachers talk with enthusiastic voices and try to uplift the kids like it isn't them in the first place causing this stress. They have the nerve to smile in the kids faces after assigning a bunch of homework as if the kids don't have other classes to take care of aswell. Please don't give me the "Time management." BS. These kids need a break for once. Now don't get me wrong, there are some good teachers who truly care for these students. stress. Mr. Gouch, Ms. Sloan, and Ms. Sun are all great teachers. Gouch in particular. He actually looks at the kids in eyes and see's that they are stressed, so he goes easy on them with the homework, he also tells a few jokes at some point. BECAUSE HE WANTS TO SEE THE KIDS SMILE! Unlike other teachers (Who I won't name.) Who care nothing about any of that stuff. They throw the work and knowledge at you and force you to throw it up on a 40 question test. I get that this is a top notch school, but jesus christ, not every kid who goes to that school is a natural born straight A student. I am not down-playing all of John Hay, only this school in specific. I've known kids who were EXCEPTIONAL in middle school, they were bright, and always had a smile on their faces. A year in John Hay Early College broke them, A YEAR, A SINGLE YEAR AT THIS SCHOOL WILL BREAK THE BRIGHTEST STUDENTS. For me personally, it has become nearly impossible to smile. I cannot continue with the "If your not smart enough, than you WONT do good here, and we WONT treat you like a human being." I could go on forever, countless nights where I wanted to cry because this school made me feel dumb, and idiotic, because I couldn't get the grade I needed to get on my test. BECAUSE I DIDNT THROW UP THE KNOWLEDGE THEY PILLED UP ON ME! I really hope some of you consider this when applying for John Hay Early College. Thank you, goodbye.
