Yvonne, the super nice lady in charge of giving out snacks etc is a extremely caring woman that makes the patients feel at home. She is an asset to Franklin plaza. Other personnel that I have met there while visiting a patient seem to be very caring as well.

Do not take your family members with dementia here. This place drugged my mom so badly giving her stool softeners and diabetic medication when she didnt need it making her seem like her dementia was more progressed. They also gave her heavy sleeping pills and melatonin to make her sleep. Every time I came here her room was filthy with food all over the floor and spilled juice. We were promised a private room. But later she got a room mate. My mom still complains about abuse during a bathing incident to this day. Its sad that the greater Cleveland area does not have a safe place to take dementia patients who need nursing home care. My mother would have died in this place! I even attached a list of all the meds they were giving my mom! Drugging her! Excuse the spelling!

I toured your facility a few days ago for possible placement for my brother who has dementia. I cannot express enough how fantastic your admissions person Crystal was. She was the kindest, most welcoming person. She included my brother in every step, which let me tell you was so heart warming. Even tho he didnt quite understand what was going on, she took the time to make sure he felt included and heard. She was able to make a difficult day full of questions and unknowns a lot more accepting and understandable.

The people responsible for discharge seem to be playing games with me. I told them I wanted to take my sister home. She has had no physical therapy in about 13 days. When they stopped the physical therapy, they also stopped getting her out of bed. They let her lay in bed 24/7. They have only put her in a wheelchair twice in about 13 days. The only reason I agreed to put her in a facility is because I wanted her to get help that she can't get at home. I liked the idea of her getting physical and occupational therapy 5 days a week. I always planned for it to be a temporary stay. There are lots of people who can't stand and walk who live at home. Now that they have stopped the therapy, I want them to bring her home. I don't want to hear nonsense about how they think I can't take care of her at home. I was told to come to a meeting about her care. Really why? They don't care enough to even get her out of bed and into a wheelchair everyday. She had an appointment with her doctor on Feb 29 2024 and they failed to take her. They tried to say there was no appointment. This is how hospice patients are treated. My sister is not terminal. My sister is not a hospice patient nor does she wish to be one. I do not want her to be treated like a hospice patient. Hospice patients stop treatments and stop seeing doctors because they are getting ready for death. Her doctor said she should be able to stand and walk again. I think they wanted to meet with me to bully me into stopping her cancer treatments and signing her up for hospice. She has not been home in 2 months. Even if I said I wanted the stay to be permanent, which I didn't, it is normal to miss somebody and you should have a right to change your mind and bring them home. updated 3 26 2024 I have since been told that at some point during 2 months of therapy, the goal had changed from being able to walk to the bathroom to dealing with life confined to a wheelchair. I know there are privacy laws but I would imagine almost any patient would be traumatized to find out they will probably never even be able to stand again. Somebody should have made sure she told me what was going on. Some people handle trauma by blocking it out and some patients may be too embarrassed to tell their family they are failing physical therapy. Somebody should have reached out to me and said, "Hey, you need to visit in the mornings instead of the afternoon because you need to watch what is going on in therapy so you will know if you think you can handle taking care of her at home." They automatically assumed I wouldn't even want to try. Now I am in a catch 22. I can't bring her home because I don't have all the stuff I need, wheelchair ramp, hospital bed, wheelchair, Hoyer lift which needs 2 people to operate, etc. If she comes home before I get all these things it will be against medical advice which means insurance and charities are not going to want to help me obtain what I need. I thought the goal of therapy was independent living or least be able to go home to your family if they are willing to do what is needed to make it possible. more update 3 27 2024 On January 8 2024, Jennifer Hudak CNP Labeled and stigmatized my sister as being eligible for hospice. She wrote on my sister's chart: Can consider hospice services if no aggressive treatment is opted for. I don't know how she came up with this diagnosis when at least 3 doctors at metrohealth medical center said she should be able to walk again. One of those doctors even wrote in their notes only 3 days after Jennifer Hudak made this comment about hospice that she was only expected to stay in this nursing home for less than 30 days, said her potential for rehabilitation was good and her weight bearing status was expected to FWB which I believe stands for Full weight bearing. I don't think that sounds like a patient that you would or should put in hospice. I don't think she should still be needing 2 people and a machine to help her transfer from bed to chair after 2 months of therapy.
