image Palmieri Builders- I would strongly recommend not using this contractor. I purchased a house built by Palmieri and would rate their quality of work as inferior and they do not back up their construction in a professional manner.
The house is 11 years old and I purchased it 3 years ago from the couple that had it built. During the winters I will occasionally hear extremely loud pops that sound like a large book dropped from 20 feet. These are the result of nail pops where the drywall was nailed instead of screwed to the frame of the house and the frame shifts. They exist throughout the home and I have had to have them repaired over and over. If I walk around now I would be able to find evidence of at least 20-30 that have yet to be repaired. When asked the builder denied using nails but when you see the head of the nail it’s pretty obvious.
I had the house painted when I moved in and the painter pointed out water staining in a closet in the basement. This past year I had some racks installed in that closet and drilled into the cinderblock near the floor and had water come out of the drill hole. It is below grade and an outside wall meaning that water was in the center of the block. The moisture high in the corner began to slowly peel the paint and start to grow mold. The signs that this existed at the time I first purchased the house but have significantly progressed. I called a contractor to see about getting this repaired and he said that if it were his build he would like to know about the problem and that I should contact Palmieri to give them a chance to make this right. That seemed like a reasonable suggestion, so I did. My first 2 calls were not returned and after persisting a third time I received a call back from the secretary who told me that since the house was more than 10 years old they assumed no responsibility and she gave me the number of a company that seals foundations. Maybe they give this number out frequently.
Several weeks ago I heard a massive crash at the far end of the home. I walked into my guest bathroom to find a 46”x46” mirror had fallen off the wall striking the counter, tile and floor breaking into a billion shards of glass ½ inch thick on the floor. If someone had been in the room they could have been killed (no exaggeration.) I had a mirror and Glass company look at it and they pointed out that not only is there no channel containing the mirrors but that the mirror adhesive had not been applied in an appropriate pattern or density. He pointed out that the directions are right on the can. I have 6 more similar mirrors in the house that I have to assume have the same method of fixation and will need to be replaced. Looking at at least 4-5 thousand dollars to make the bathrooms safe.
The house was a 2 million dollar build. It’s not like this was a low budget construction. I would think about interviewing a different contractor for whatever it is you have planned. The most telling event is that I sent them this review before publishing it to allow for a rebuttal and never heard a word back.
