I really like this place.  I found it through Groupon and have continued to go back. I've had super service and the gel manicures are the best ever.  Felicia is very good. The concept behind this nail salon is also very unique.  I especially like the online appointment system and the ability to pay through paypal in advance.  Give it a try

Terrible terrible experience. I made an appointment for my fiancé and I to get mani pedis here two days before our wedding. We live out of state, and I should have checked the yelp reviews before making an appointment. Their website is excellent, and like a lot of these ladies are saying- that's the most professional part of this establishment. We showed up 15 mins early because we had our rehearsal dinner two hours after our appointment and I didn't want any delays. We had to wait a half hour to be greeted. There was only two employees there and the rest of the store was bare. I showed one of the employees about four different pictures of some nails I was inspired by. They kept telling me that they couldn't do any designs on my nails because they were doing me this huge favor of squeezing me in that day, and they wouldn't have time to do my nails. They kept saying 'this is an appointment only salon, and we have another client right after you.' I did make an appointment, so how is their appointment more important than mine? After going back and forth a few times about the nail colors I was looking for, and the ladies telling me they can't do anything I wanted- I caved and asked for a simple French tip. They replied again that they couldn't even do that for me. At that point, I pretty much knew this rude woman was refusing to help me because the color of my skin was different than hers, so my fiancé an I both left without paying. Unfortunately, I tend to get too much attention from racist women, so I am very familiar with it. I can't believe they turned away two paying customers like that. Classic denial of service. It's rare when this kind of thing happens, but when it does- it's very clear what is going on.

There are so many things that I want to complain about.  Whoever runs this business needs to find another line of work.  They are not cut out for a customer service oriented profession.  They are totally chaotic regarding Groupons and will no longer honor them.  The problem with that is that if you go to get a refund on your Groupon for the amount you paid, if it's after 3 days, you can only get Groupon Bucks, not an actual refund.  That stinks.  But getting back to VIP Nail Bar.  You can't make an appointment.  They never answer the phone.  Then if you do get an appointment, by booking it online, don't count on getting the person you booked.  She probably already quit the place.  They moved locations, so since I was having trouble making my appointment online, I thought I'd drop in and see where the new place was, and make my appointment.  I was greeted with a distinct attitude of "What are you doing here?!  You better not say you have an appointment.  You're not welcome.  There's no one here to help you make an appointment (they were both working on clients).  Go home and make your appointment online, you idiot."  ..That was what their behavior conveyed ..not what they actually said.  So I arrive for my appointment and the woman was RUDE, she looked at my Groupon and handed it back to me.  Once used, it was good for the trash bin, so I asked her to clarify if it was trash and she just said yes, not offering to dispose of it for me.  There were no smiles coming from this woman.  I began to wonder if she was depressed, psychotic, or if I just rubbed her the wrong way because I looked "different" than her. ...read between the lines.  While she worked on my nails there was no pleasant chit chat and she ordered me to go and scrub my hands myself.  And get this ...while she was doing my nails she answered her cordless phone three times!  Why were my calls never answered, and then calls answered while I was getting my nails done?  I predict this place will be out of business probably before anyone gets to read this.

RUDE and UNPROFESSIONAL They do not answer the phone ...only voice mail and email...very unprofessional!! They no longer honor the Groupon that I bought and when I contacted them via email, I was dealt with very rudely by the owner! If this is their way of building their business with Groupon , it is an EPIC FAIL!!!  There are a lot of great salons out there.....RUN AWAY FROM THIS ONE!!!

DO NOT  STEP FOOT INTO THIS PLACE!!! I wish I would have  never stumbled  upon the VIP Nail Bar while looking for nail salons online.  The best thing (and most deceptive) about the business by far is the actual  website itself.   Do not expect anything about the experience of  actually going there to come remotely close to the  image the website portrays. The  moment you  access the website, you see lovely images with relaxing spa-typemusic playing in the background.  The concept  of the place is attractive and appealing,  but that begins and ends  with the website.  In the 'About Us' section on the website it states that if you are looking for a salon that provides VIP treatment and professional service, look no further.  It also states that the owner was a manager of a 5-Star hotel spa located in the heart of "Chicago's financial district" and that she had very high-profile clients.  I have experience working in an upscale salon and none of the behaviors that my friend and I observed during our appointments would have been tolerated in my former workplace.  We would have never been permitted to have our children running in and out of the salon.  It is interesting that the website asks customers to not bring their children with them during their appointments.  Also, we NEVER left clients to answer the phone...we had a handy individual who is commonly referred to as a receptionist.  We dressed professionally and behaved in a professional manner.  Many of us wore dresses on an almost daily basis and I can assure you that we were mindful that we were wearing dresses and would never have considered sitting across from a client in a position that would have enabled them to view our undergarments.  When you pick up your phone to  attempt  to make an appointment, that is when the fun begins. Regardless of  the number you dial (the owner's or the actual Nail Bar) chances are you are going to get an answering  machine or a voicemail that you are unable to leave a message on because the mailbox is always full.  All services are pre-paid online and this is also the preferred method for you to  book your appointment.  You are unable to book an appointment unless you pay in advance.  Customers being prompt for their appointments is stressed on the website which is understandable.  As a paying customer, I appreciate promptness from individuals providing services for me.  I do not appreciate being forced into changing my appointment to two hours later than the original time with NO APOLOGY.  I was  contacted an hour and a half before the start time of our original appointments letting me know about the last minute change. When we arrived for our appointments the doors were locked.  Luckily, one of the employees arrived with keys in hand to let us in.  When we walked in, the building was quite hot as if air had not been circulating for an extended period of time.  I asked immediately if the air worked and was assured that it was being turned on at the time.  I really didn't have that 'pampered' feeling that is referred to  on the website.  The building (or as is referred to by employees, the suite) is in serious need of general cleaning and numerous repairs. The decor, or at least the tissue paper decorations, might be suitable for a first birthday.  The bathroom is dirty.  I could go on and on in this area, but take my word for it, you will be unpleasantly surprised if you decide to book an appointment and walk into this place.Within minutes of our arrival, a dissatisfied customer came in asking for a refund because she was unhappy with the service she received.  The owner had not yet arrived, so she sat down and waited.  She stated to the girl that was there that she had called numerous times and left a couple of messages but nobody responded.  The owner finally arrived and the employee explained that the woman wanted a refund.  The owner briefly spoke with her and said she could schedule another appointmment for her for the same service at no additional charge.  Still, the customer said she did not want to come back into the place and again requested a refund.  All of a sudden, the owner told her she could not refund her money because she had a client (me) at the time.  I am the same "client" she stopped working on three differet times to talk on the phone.  This customer specifically drove there for a refund....and left without a refund. Our appointments were for the shellac manicures and dessert pedicures.  My  manicure ended with three nicked cuticles and my pedicure ended with a 3/4" cut on my toe.  No apologies, once again.  Instead, it was "that file cut you"...ofcourse the individual holding the file had nothing to do with it.  The website also states that they have the BEST pedicure massage chairs.  My chair had a broken control....literally missing cracked pieces of plastic, and did not even work on all of the settings.I would not recommend this place to anyone, ever.
