Animal and Avian Medical Center

We've been to Animal and Avian in the past and been pleased so it made sense to go to them when we got a dog recently. I was a good experience. Dr. Wilson and Chelsea were very calming for our anxious girl, Sugar. Both ladies are very knowledgeable and helped us learn training techniques for our reactive dog who is a rescue. They did a thorough physical exam and made suggestions regarding feeding and maintaining a healthy weight. Animal and Avian Medical Center was clean, had a spacious waiting room and pleasant staff. It will be our "go to" for Sugar.

I wish I could give them 0 stars for their lack of compassion. Last month I tried to get my 16 year old Bichon in to have her euthanized. I explained to the receptionist that she had respirations of 100 and was suffering. I was told that the schedule was full but she would speak with Dr. Martin when he came in and call back (which never happened). My husband called back and was told that he was already in with a patient but she thought that they might be able to get her in around 2:30. THIS WAS COMPLETELY UNACCEPTABLE!! We have been taking our dog to them for 16 years and they could not carve out 15 minutes to end her suffering. I used to have positive experiences with this practice but after this I will never take any animal to them again. It seems like they are only interested in money and not the welfare of their patients. It's not like I was wanting her seen because of a minor issue and I understand they are not an emergency clinic but her suffering was absolutely heartbreaking for us. So instead of taking her to them (which is only 2 miles from our home),we ended up taking her to MedVet to have her euthanized. They were very kind and compassionate and took care of her immediately. As of today, we have never received any condolences from them. So heartless and uncaring.

Dr. Wilson is the best!! She was able to diagnose what was wrong with our dog and recommended a great plan of action. We are always treated like family when we are there. We feel that our dog receives the best care. Thank you, Dr. Wilson and Animal Avian for your great service.

Merely called to ask a question and the staff member who answered was so bothered she huffed into the phone and couldn't wait to hang up. I wont be taking my pet here. If the phone experience is pointlessly rude, I can only imagine how the in-person meeting would be.
