2 Pond Lodge

We stayed at 2 Ponds last weekend March 2022. My daughter and her family of 8 children stayed there a few months ago and enjoyed it. We as grandparents decided to go this time to visit gson from Lisbon for his bday and celebrate daughters bday too besides some special family time. My daughter has very serious health problems which we just found out about so wanted this weekend to be special. We made reservations with Joe early March for this 4 day weekend. My daughter kept in touch with Joe several times up to our arrival time last Thursday. Recent days no reply from Joe. When we arrived we went into the house and texted Joe who said he would be meeting us in a couple hrs. so we settled in and 3 hrs later I sent text after 8 pm to see when he would come get his money. We liked the cute but rustic house which wasn't the cleanest but didn't bother us too much. Joe came at 8:30 and I introduced myself and my husband. Joe said to my husband he needed to discuss something very serious with us. He proceeded to tell us he was expecting a volleyball team arriving at 5pm the next day and that we would need to leave. After some discussion it was agreed we would stay for the days of our arrangement we had with him. There was no other options for us given from Joe of another place to stay and there was 11 of us. We had just traveled 2 states six hr. trip and our daughter rented a expensive van to transport her large family . Friday when we came from an outing the volleyball team was in a small cabin and camper on Joes property which again was not offered to us the evening before. Saturday at supper time we had a couple guests and were having cake when Joe decided to pop in without knocking to check on us and mentioned he didn't know what to do about showers for the volleyball team. We were already inconvenienced by his unannounced visit we weren't going to invite a dozen or more people to come shower in a house we rented. We were very upset and the beginning of our weekend was ruined by this lack of unprofessionalism by Joe. We would never return to a rental that would put us in a bad situation with so many children and it was felt by all of us that he could have handled things much more sensitive. He is not a five star host and is somewhat intrusive of his renters privacy. We will rent elsewhere next visit to Lisbon. He lost our business.

I have 8 children, 7 of them came with us to go visit our oldest son who just graduated last year. 3 children under 4yrs old. My husband, mother, and step dad came with. We reserved this cabin over a month ago. I emailed Joe 3dys before we got there to confirm and check on how to get in the house. He never got back to me. Messaged him again and tried calling and texting no answer. We get there door is unlocked. Corn stove on full blast with no gate in sight for safety. We call him again to inform him we are there. Finally he called back around 5pm. He didn't get there until 8:30pm. He shows up telling us after we drove all the way from Wisconsin with a bunch of kids that the next day which is my birthday we will have to leave since he double booked with a volleyball team. We were very upset with 11 of us so far from home and so many small children we couldn't find somewhere on short notice and already spent most of our money. We respectfully told him we already paid and were already there and settled in so we weren't leaving. We ended staying. He checked in on us 1 time right at 6pm on Saturday when we were having supper and birthday cake. He also just walks in which is very uncomfortable. He ended up pulling up a camper to fit the volleyball team in that and a little shack. He had the nerve then to ask us how the volleyball team was supposed to shower. This was the worst experience ever. Ruined my birthday and family trip. We would have come stayed every few months regularly and been steady business for Joe but will not return since we don't feel welcome anymore and don't know if or when we will be kicked out again. Also we had to vacuum the upstairs because it had hundreds of dead flies literally.

Amazing house and great for the budget! Host is sweet and very helpful! Will come again!

Lottsa room and open spaces, The dirt road getting there was an adventure and the.beds were comfortable and cozy. Central heat and a wood fireplace making it homey and warm.
