Did not realize this is basically a oil field hotel. If you're traveling with family I would not recommend this place. The bedding and all of the towels were stained. The floor had not been vacuumed in I'm not sure how long. They charge you an additional $50 deposit upon arrival and they claim you get it back when you leave. Very loud seems cheaply made and right next to the interstate, so you get to hear all the traffic. Had people in the parking lot revving there engines with loud exhaust, and whipping around in the parking lot all night. Fun for the whole neighborhood. There is no one at the front desk after 8 pm.

The Dakotas just call to my soul. A few SoDak pics sprinkled in w NoDak pics. Rooms: My room is perfect for 1-2 people. There's a full-sized fridge w/ freezer, a nice big sink in the kitchenette and 2 burner electric cook top. (I brought a few of my own dishes, cookware/flatware, etc. from home but you can get some items from the front desk I believe.) They provide a 13 gallon garbage can and bags, kitchen towels/washcloth, a small cutting board and small bottle of dish soap. Nice amount of cupboard space and a large microwave. There's a small table to eat at or use for a desk area with a corkboard above it. A flat screen TV sits on top of the "dresser" which has a large open upper compartment and 2 large drawers. There's a clothes rack that's about 4 feet long and a shelf above. My bed is comfy. The bath/bed linens are soft and white. Pretty decent soundproofing here but I did bring my white noise machine and earplugs as I work nights and most people don't. Of note, housekeeping is available every 2 weeks on the weekends so you're responsible for taking your garbage out to the dumpster. The front desk will provide more bags, dish soap and linens as you need them. You can also ask to use a broom and vacuum. Nearby activities: Even though it's wintertime, there's still lots to do here! Dickinson has a Calendar of Events online and you can also sign up for North Dakota Tourism to see what's going on nearby and across the state. You can go check out the bison, wild horses and other wildlife at the nearby south unit of Theodore Roosevelt National Park. The wildlife is incredible and I just saw the Northern Lights up there last week! Dickinson State University and North Dakota State University put on local/sporting events. West River Community Center has an Olympic sized pool, weight room, sauna etc. for your healthy life and also puts on different events. Lots of great places to eat here including Blue 42, Dakota Diner, Lemongrass and the incredible Grub Tub! It's the wrong time of year for the Medora Musical (check out the ND Cowboy Hall of Fame though!) but head east on 94 to check out the Knife River Indian Village Mounds, the worlds largest Holstein "Salem Sue", and Bismarck is only 90 mins away! Jump on 94 W and you can check out Montana! You can also pick up Rt 85--head north to see the north unit of TRNP, Watford City, Williston and Canada! Turn south on 85 and check out South Dakota! You'll initially be in Belle Fourche which has a very nice museum and is the Center of the Nation and then you can jump on I-90 and adventure in the Black Hills! Deadwood, Lead and Sturgis await you! Take 90 further west and see Devil's Tower in Wyoming! Rapid City has tons to do as well! There's a lot to do and see in this beautiful area and tons of history! Be smart and keep an eye on the weather though and keep supplies in your car. Water will freeze but juice boxes will just get slushy. Safety: Never have I EVER felt unsafe in this hotel or in this area. Stay a very respectful distance away from the wildlife! This is definitely NOT a petting zoo area! Walkability: Walkability is dependent on the weather this time of year. Right now, the snow is essentially gone but there are still icy areas to be careful of. There's a small Family Fare grocery store, a Buffalo Wild Wings and a strip mall in easy walking distance. Noteworthy details: I was lucky enough that the manager, Miss Debra was working when I checked in. She just makes you feel right at home and is as sweet as the day is long! Great long term rates. The hotel is right off 1-94 and the local hospital is less than 2 miles away. Be aware that it is a critical access hospital and they don't have all the specialists available (cardiology, nephrology, etc.) on-site that you may be used to but the local providers can and do consult with those specialists when needed. Walmart, Cashwise, Prairie Hills Mall are all an easy drive from here. I recommend Prairie Maid Laundry (also about 5-7 mins away). It may be a bit pricey but it's very well taken care of and the oil field workers can only use specific machines. Get ALL you laundry done at one time! You can download their Dexter Pay app, connect it to a credit/debit card and never worry about needing quarters again!
