TrueLook

We turned to TrueLook to monitor the construction of a new professional baseball stadium in downtown Hagerstown Maryland. The stadium is an economic development component designed to reverse a downward trend in the City's economy. My organization, Visit Hagerstown, does destination marketing and promotes travel to our area. TrueLook's services are being used by us to develop content for advertising and social media posts and to generate excitement about this new venue. I know people use it to monitor and document construction but as a marketing tool, it is amazing.

This is a one-star rating at its best. I have had these cameras on many job sites across the nation for years without incident/errors/malfunctions. My latest camera was purchased with its solar option arrived at our job site and was mounted roughly 40' in the air. It was noticed a few months after that the lenses bowl at the bottom of the camera was filled with water. TrueLook was notified and a new camera unit was provided with request of the old camera to be returned once the new replacement camera was installed in its case. A few months later the same event happened with the camera case/housing was filling up with water again. Once again, a new camera was provided with return of the old camera. After reinstall and correct operation we were asked to send the whole unit (Camera and Case) back to TrueLook for further evaluation. Camera and case were disassembled, evaluated, reassembled, and dunk tested and found to be sealed tight and then returned for our reinstallation on the building. After reinstallation and operational we were told the case was compromised and this was why water was infiltrating the case. and the camera warranty would be canceled. Upon final return of the camera assembly, we were provided with a nonfunctioning camera. Going forward it is doubtful that I will be utilizing these cameras in the future.

Our first project with TrueLook was so satisfactory, that we ordered two more for our next project. TrueLook's features exceeded, and the pricing was more competitive, than the prior camera system we were using.

If I had the opportunity to give 0 stars, I probably would. I needed some very unique equipment - cameras that would operate without WiFi and without access to a power source. I was told the solar-powered, data-driven Truelook cameras would satisfy my job need. I requested an example of the output video, which looked fantastic. When I received my equipment, I was very optimistic. I installed the cameras and learned that one of the cameras had a hardware flaw, a smudge caused by a small nick in the outer case. The company acknowledged this was a hardware defect and told me to send it back for a new one. I sent it back only to receive the same camera back with no correction of the issue. After some complaining and escalation, the company sent me another camera as a replacement. Once the cameras were up, the quality of the video was nowhere near the example video I received. Furthermore, the "live feed" just kept buffering. For what it's worth, my customer rep and tech guy made their best efforts to correct the issues. However, the equipment was just not good enough to provide a sustainable output. I asked the company if I could sell back the cameras at a significant loss from what I paid. They refused to refund any of my over $18K paid. This was a huge hit to my brand new company's P&L. I'm extremely disappointed with the value provided by this equipment and would highly recommend that others don't fall into the same trap.
