image I havent met one person I havent liked. Everyone is very friendly. For the most part I am happy with the food! I love some of the crafting events that go on and its a great way to try new things. Happy hour is always the best way to meet new friends! It was an adjustment moving from a house to an apartment but I now have adjusted and love it.

image We moved here 2 years ago and met a lot of nice people and staff. Things were fine, but over time, things change. People are still great, but you see a lot of staff changes, cutbacks and price increases. I realize it is difficult to please everyone, but there tends to be more negativity as time goes on. For example, they abandoned the residents on New Year's Eve. Originally, we were supposed to have dinner, music and champagne, but they changed it as they saw it was a Sunday. Instead of paying staff to be there, they gave us a quick brunch, and left it up to the residents to plan their night. You see constant price increases. Recognize prices are up because of inflation. But also, you have to recognize this is a For Profit company, unlike a lot of nonprofits in the area. Price for a rental rose almost 10 percent last year and 4 percent this year. But to top it off, recently, the price of meals has gone up way beyond the inflation rate. It has been told to us the company does not make a profit on our food, but calculations show that they presumably pay $12-14 dollars a pound for chicken and 96 cents for EACH shrimp. And those are bulk and wholesale prices. And those are factored into our meal prices. If you shop, you know those prices are way and above what you pay retail. Can't tell me they are not profiting on food we pay for. Just recently they announced new prices. For example, soups were up about 100 percent from last August. An example, for the 4 menu salads, price increases ranged from 75 percent to 233 percent in the new menu. The price of a piece of flatbread went up 32 percent to $21! Not profiting? This is taking advantage of people. Many here are too old and have infirmities to move or eat out so they are at the mercy and whims of Homestead Hills and its parent company, Maxwell, who dictates these increases. Their brochures and web pages paint a glowing picture. Only suggestion is that if you are looking to move here, make sure you talk to a number of residents and get their views also.p
