        Stayed a few months ago. From Greensboro and no longer drive at night, in town to enjoy the Haunted walking tour downtown Winston. The house was beautiful, quiet and everyone was so pleasant. Exactly what I needed for the night. Loved being able to walk around the house and see the historic architecture. It was nice surprise that they keep the non-occupied rooms open so I got to see much more of the house. The breakfast was outstanding, staff were professional and so accommodating, wonderful coffee (which is a big selling point for me). Perfect accommodations for my short stay needs, but could easily have stayed for a long trip.

        Rooms: We toured beautiful house beautiful big room's and very clean ,perfect for romantic date weekend Nearby activities: Old salem ,saw tooth center ,art ,baseball downtown walking . Walkability: Very walkable Food & drinks: Very good, very tasty and beautifully presented . Noteworthy details: You will love this place.i can't wait to go back

      Take a step back in time at the Shaffner Inn. This extravagant white and green Tudor Revival style residence was built in 1907, as a private residence for Henry Fries Shaffner, co-founder of Wachovia Loan and Trust. It boasts of elegance with its grand staircase, Tiger Oak hand-carved paneling, 9 original fireplaces, a wraparound enclosed porch, and dormer casements that emulate historic English lead-glass windows, all surrounded by handsome antiques. The Shaffner Inn is open to the public, offering 8 overnight guest rooms, meeting and event space, on-site parking and a full-service restaurant.
