Giggles Drop-In Childcare

All of a sudden my son can't stay in there establishment past 4 hours. I am furious because for 2 or 3 months I've been working every Saturday except 1 I took off and have never ever been told that. I was even willing to pay the 12 an hour after the 4 hours. What am I supposed to do with my son now on Saturdays. Plus there was 1 incident where my son was bruised and there story made nooooo since.

I just moved here from California and am searching for a daycare! I have looked all over Wilmington and called Giggles to ask about childcare until I could find a more permanent daycare. I spoke on the phone with Vicki. She was amazing! I told her a few times that she was so nice I was almost in tears. She also spoke very highly of the team over there. I am not sure yet which center I will be using, but wanted to sing her praises. Good work Giggles!!!!!!

My son was bullied and punched at Giggles this week. When I came to pick him up after a 3 hour playtime, he was cowering inside a big plastic caterpillar tube, crying. Staff did not know until pickup that he had been assaulted. They did state by way of apology that the bigger kid who assaulted him has issues, so a child with previously known issues was allowed to be around other kids there with minimal oversight as evidenced by the fact that staff had no awareness of the incident involving my son. Staff did not offer to fill out an incident form, but they did say the owner would call me. Noone has reached out to us to discuss this incident and to check on my son. (My phone # was on the sign-in sheet and on file, the child's father's number is on file as well). Am I to conclude that the owner was not made aware of this safety incident or that she doesn't consider it worth a phone call? I did have an informative phone conversation with a New Hanover County's juvenile detective, and on the basis of that conversation, I realized that I should have just called 911 and had a report filed on the spot to bring due attention to the issue. As it stands, I do not know if the assailant's parents were notified and if this child is going to continue attending Giggles. Not returning, would not recommend. P.S. In response to the owner's response, **your staff** stated that the other child has known issues and that you would call me, so yes, I was expecting follow-up. Children have disagreements, but at no time should a child be allowed to punch another child with no awareness or intervention on the behalf of supervising adults. I, too, am sorry that you were unable to meet my need for basic safety and oversight.
