The worst hotel experience that I have ever had. They gave away the room I reserved and didn't tell me. We got to our room and it was a single bed instead of two, there were rodent droppings the floor near the bed, the shower had no shower head. The desk clerk couldn't even provide an extra blanket or sheet for the room citing because there was no housekeeping (sadly evident after looking through the room). The only star this place gets is being close to the venue we were coming from. STAY AWAY FROM THIS HOTEL! Even the Google photo is a lie it far more dirty and in disrepair.

This hotel from the beginning was a disappointment. First charged my card for the full amount even before i arrived (not sure if this is standard but, i travel quite a bit and this was a first). When arriving we were greeted by a lackluster gentleman who seemed enthused to be there (sarcasm). While checking we WERE charged a $100 security deposit - not sure if this is new but it seems that others may not have been charged the same. When we were loading our things from the car to the room - we noticed two things that could be a big deal to some people - there is no elevator so you have to lug your items upstairs - not a big deal to us but just pointing it out. When looking for another door on our side of the building - we found the door had broken glass and a sign that said use the front one. The Lobby is decent but it seems that is where most the renovations were focused. Also, feel whatever way you want but he also seemed surprised that 2 men (my husband and I) were in a one bedroom hotel room. When we were walking to our room the hallway smelled like someone Toking up (no judgement - different strokes). When entering the room it was set at 74 so a bit warm. The window was completely cloudy and the curtains were not hanging nicely, they were more bunched up on the AC. The bathroom was definitely part of the renovations as well - glass doors and nice looking tile. However, on the glass door there was an "M" retail sticker stuck on it. The shower was leaking so there was pooling water and mildew as a result. We had some leftover food and went to put it in the fridge - all of the shelves in the fridge were broken and it was not clean. There was also rust from the door stained on the floor. While prepping some noodles in the microwave - the microwave is much older - operated like an old time kitchen timer - not digital but worse was disgusting! Also, to note the entire weekend - we never saw or interacted with anyone from house-keeping. Less important but still noticeable - the walls looked like they painted over the previous hooks and fixtures. The lamps all looked like they were recycled as well (not part of the renovation). The most concerning thing we discovered was the door would not lock - luckily my hubby was able to get it to lock by forcefully pulling up on it. When the lights were turned off - you could see lights above and below the door so that looked just thrown together. The bed squeaked pretty bad but not a huge deal. We were in town to work Dreamville (fantastic festival!) When returning that night - we were going to have a drink and wind down. The ice machine on our floor (2nd) did not work and had a sign on it. We went downstairs to check that one - the entire hallway smelled like the carpets were steam-cleaned and left to air-dry (for context sour milk came to mind) - we found the ice machine - it was opened and there was no ice. When asking the front desk the gentleman smiled (not genuine, lack of care) and said they did not have ice. I don't know about you but in my entire life i have never seen a hotel completely out of ice. Breakfast was very basic - bread, bagels and dry cereal and waffle maker. The area the hotel in is not terrible but there were quite a few people that were just hanging around the front of the hotel smoking which to some people may be off-putting - did not really phase but just for context. When leaving the festival the last night - i was sincerely dreading returning to the hotel. This is my experience and thoughts. Great for anyone who has had a better experience - my biggest issue is many of these items are a matter of cleaning and proper management which would not require a whole lot of effort.

So we confirmed this reservation for a discounted rate on 2/26. 3-days before our 4/6 trip we get a call from the hotel stating they overbooked and we don't have a room. Just so happen, unlike 6 weeks ago, NC State (from Raleigh) is now playing in the Final 4 this weekend and all hotels in the area are booking for much more than what we paid on 2/26 because those from the atea or who attended the school are returning for some big celebrations. Reason given to us for cancelation is "there was a glitch in the system" when we booked. A glitch would not have generated a reservation confirmation. Why not cancel your most recent reservations instead of your lowest priced, which was booked 6 weeks ago. Screwing people for more money can lead to well lined pockets, for the moment. But bad reviews can haunt for a lifetime!

This place is good if you need to make an emergency type quick stop or a cheap place to stay a couple nights, but if you want to enjoy yourself, dont come here. First off, everything is broken. Ice machine, vending machine, phone... everythang bro. The staff is not very talkative and doesnt like to talk much. You ask for towels, and they give you one. Bro pulled out a whole role of trash can bags, and gave me a 1, after asking for "a couple trash bags". This is only night 1, and i know that ian ever, ever, EVER coming to Econo Lodge again.
