Mike and his team did an amazing job! The job was to grade my sloped back yard, build a retaining wall and put in sod. All were done better than I could have imagined. Highly recommend!

Mike did an outstanding job clearing and grading the back of our property back to the edge of a ravine. Worked carefully and methodically to accomplish our objectives. Good equipment, professional, responsive and easy to work with. Highly recommended.

Mike and his team did a great job! I highly recommend them to anyone. We had about 20 older trees on our lot several of which were becoming a danger to our house. Mike and his team were very professional and friendly. He gave us a quote and stuck to it, which of course is very important. In fact he went above and beyond. Our house was abandoned for several years before we purchased it and we had a gravel driveway which was in much need of repair as it was more dirt than gravel at that point. Well the driveway got pretty torn up in the process of removing the trees. Trust me, it would have been entirely fair for Mike to have just regraded the existing dirt/gravel driveway but instead, after bringing it up to me, Mike installed a new gravel driveway at cost and provided all the receipts from the quarry so I know I only paid for the gravel! I will definitely call Mike again if there is ever a need. In fact since the service was great and I know that I can trust him, I wont call anyone else.

My project was to regrade an area enclosed by a circular driveway to solve a drainage issue - basically to increase the slope so the water would run off. Mike came to see my project area on 1/31. It had been raining a lot so the area was very wet, but it was usually wet - this was the problem I wanted him to fix. I showed him the work area, and gave him a written description of the project, including staking and grading plans. He gave me a satisfactory price and said that they would be able to get to it around the beginning of March. A few days after our 1/31 meeting I have him the green light for the project. He came and started the work around 3/15, but after a couple of hours stopped and told me it was "too wet". (I knew it was wet - that's why I hired him!) He had rough graded so the rain would run off; but there were several large puddles following this; I called him and told him this and he came back and smoothed it out on 3/24. That was the last date he worked on my project (and it is May 7th as I right this.) From that point it was delay, delay, excuse and excuse. He left a big pile of topsoil (probably 6 to 8 yards) that he had scraped up that first time he came with his machines to start the project. This was near the highest point and had soaked up lots of water. Quite possibly this water was draining out of this soil which had been saturated with water from some hard rains that had fallen in the days following him making it. One of the excuses York gave was that my "well was leaking" because there was a slow trickle of water coming up to the surface just downhill from that pile (which was also near my well). I called my well pump guy and he told me to shut off the water to the house, read the pressure gauge in the crawl space, wait 10 minutes, and read it again. If there was a leak the pressure would go down. I did this, except I waited 25 minutes, and the pressure did not go down. Ergo no leak. I told Mike this and he said there must be a "spring" there - and claimed that is why it had been so wet all this time. That is possible, but over the intervening weeks this trickle has nearly dried up, and btw most of the area is completely hard and dry now - there is just a narrow channel that is wet from that trickle. I called Mike several times between 3/24 and 5/4 and usually he said he would come out and look a few days later. The next to the last time I asked him to come and discuss how we were going to get this done. I said it was wet when I hired him; he is the expert, having been in the business (he claimed) for 25 years, tell me how to solve this problem. He never followed up. Finally I called him on 5/4 and said it was two months since he had first indicated he would be able to get the project done, and I either needed to work out a plan with him to get it done, or go in "another direction". He never called me back. Bottom line - he claimed to be a very experienced landscape construction contractor, I hired him to solve a drainage/wet soil problem, he started the job and then disappeared, leaving a half-graded mess behind. And he didn't even have the courtesy to return my call and tell me he wasn't going to be able to finish the project. Can I give him ZERO stars?
