I went shopping with my sister last Sunday (12/03) and the staff was very friendly and courteous! I'm in the early stages of transitioning and whether or the staff noticed, I was treated no different than any other customer. The employee working there asked if I needed help, set me up with a changing room and rung me up with a smile. I left with a dress, skirt and earrings and love each piece I bought.

Kelly and Laura were working in the store during my visit. They were very friendly and helpful. They didn't rush me out at closing time, and they helped me ways to save the most money. The store was having great sales, and I was very satisfied shopping there.

Do not shop at francesca's! I went to the store to purchase some jewlery today, and my sister came with me. I had a large shopping bag from another store in the area. As we looked at the jewlery, I placed the shopping bag on the floor at my feet and any jewlery I thought about purchasing I left it on the table at all times in order to not look like I was trying to put the merchandise in my shopping bag. About 5 minutes into us looking at the jewlery table, the manager Kelly rushed over and pretends to be arranging jewelry on the same table we are looking at jewlery on. I see her also look down in my shopping bag to I guess see if I had dropped anything in there to steal. This made both my sister and I uncomfortable but we continued to look at the jewelry. About 5 minutes later she asks Do you want me to hold your bag at the front? Just so you dont trip on it. I was shocked to say the least and left the store without buying anything because I was deeply offended. I know for sure she had racially profiled me and thought I was stealing or was going to steal jewlery from the store. Shortly after, I returned back to the store to ask for the general managers name and number. To which she asked if she could help me with something. I told her there was nothing I felt she could help me with as it already seemed she thought my sister and I would steal out of the boutique. She assured me that she was required to do a figure 8 or a wrap around in the store as customers shopped. My sister nor I witnessed her do a figure 8 as she stood by the same jewlery table we shopped at while we looked not offering assitance just staring and arranging. She also stated that she didnt know if I was used to the service but she offered all of her customers to take their bags to be friendly. I shop in a variety of stores and boutiques and have never been asked to hold my bag at the front. She ended the conversation by saying she didnt know where I got it from that I thought she thought I was stealing. I have never received this treatment in any boutique I have shopped at in Village District. As a young African American woman I almost always still shop with my mom for this reason. Its very disheartening that I cannot go buy a bracelet without feeling unsafe. Making this post public so others are aware not to send their young black children here at all or without an adult!
