If you want to know why the Catholic Church is in decline You don't need to look further than a place like this. I visit the area at least once a month and had some brand new shoes I wanted to donate to the Catholic Church. I came on a Tuesday when they were having some sort of event that was sparsely populated. When I came in I held the sneakers up and said I'd love to donate these to a good Catholic family. She promptly said we don't take them here bring it to hospice. And continued talking with person. I said that's the wrong answer The right answer is put him on a table over there and we'll get him to a family that needs them. No I understand they can't take items all day and it would fill up there church if they did. But there was no welcome well that was a kind gesture but we don't do that here. Are you new to the church can I give you a quick look around maybe introduce you to some people? I've been Catholic all my life and support Catholic initiatives politically and personally. To add to the rudeness of the interaction the woman actually said "don't leave those here" to which I replied Don't worry I certainly won't. The church should be a welcoming place in every interaction should be a few as an opportunity to make a Catholic feel at home. This was exactly the opposite I drove out of my way to bring these shoes which are brand new by the way to a Catholic church because I wanted them to end up with a Catholic family and was turned away by a rude woman. When I move to this area primarily in a few years it's unlikely that I'll come back here. I had a feeling this wasn't a church for all people but just for certain people.
