        Looked for a place to camp for this Thanksgiving and found lake James website. We ended up booking a site, paid our money and got our reservation. Literally less than five minutes later I found out I could not go at that time and called to cancel. Now I understand a fee for cancelling on down the road, but to charge $25 for a four minute booking is rediculous. Now to be fair the girl that took our reservation was very nice in trying to give us a full refund, but management would not let her. Policy is policy, but four minutes???? That's shameful. Will book elsewhere

        Not a resort really a glorified trailer park. Cigarette butts littered everywhere. I wouldn't recommend.

        No RV s over 10 years old ,no matter what condition???. shower s have to walk, drive to.go to a state park instead not do snotty.

        Stopped in for one overnight stay. Found the campground to be huge with both tent and RV sites. This campground would be excellent for a stay in the spring or fall due to the amount of trees! I walk every morning and today I saw three deer as I walked through the campground. This in my book, is one I could go to again.

      Lake James Camping Resort & Marina

      The park has 176 RV sites, the majority of which are lake front or lake view sites. The marina has 140 wet boat slips that keep you only a step away from turning that key and pulling out on the lake, no backing in to launch, and then loading up at the end of the day. After your finished boating, just pull back in to your slip, jump on the golf cart and head back to your RV site. Can't get any easier than that!

      Hello Steve, the processing fee to cancel or change a reservation is clearly stated on our website, in our confirmation email, and it is quoted by our staff during each reservation. The $25 processing fee covers the fees associated with running a card for payment and then running it again for refund. It also covers the time spent by staff to create and then cancel the reservation. Those costs exist whether a change or cancellation is made well in advance or same day.

      We appreciate feedback from all of our guests however a search of as our customer database, doesn’t list you as ever having been a guest at the resort. Based on your review, we can only assume you reviewed the wrong resort as our grounds and common areas are very well maintained. Good luck with your future camping endeavors.
