To talk to the office you have to talk to a scheduler which most the time is outsourced in another country, you arent speaking directly to the doctors office. You send messages in your portal and you dont hear back. There follow through is lacking. And how can you trust a doctors office for care if you cant even speak to them directly when calling. I understand big companies using outsourced customer service but not a doctors office you are dealing with medical issues and peoples lives. I probably wont be returning unless its absolutely necessary and Im desperate

I normally do not give bad reviews on any place as I think a lot of experiences can be subjective, however, I have had consistent negative experiences with this clinic and medical practice is something I think people should have informed awareness on when deciding where to go. It saddens me to have to write this especially for a more local business, but when it comes to medical health, I think this clinic has been consistently irresponsible and borderline negligent in a way that is dangerous and potentially expensive for their patients. For some background, this has been my family doctor since I was a small toddler and I am currently entering my 20s. My family and I were very satisfied for the majority of our time with them, but in the last few years, the practice has depreciated drastically. For some examples, I once cut my foot open and was bleeding out when I was young. The nurses and doctors had no idea what they were doing and left me there to bleed into a bucket, and it was my own mother (who has no formal medical experience other than being a mother) who had to direct them to raise my foot above my heart and apply pressure to stop the bleeding. Another experience was when I was dying in a hospital across the country with multiple organ failure, and the doctors needed my vaccination history in order to properly diagnose and treat me. For an entire week, nobody could get ahold of Avance Care through any means of communication (phone, email, etc.) My parents had to fly from California all the way back to North Carolina just to get a copy of my records. My condition was SEVERELY worsened by this wait period all because of dangerously poor communication on their end, which is not something that a reliable practice would ever do to their patients. In the last few weeks, I was misdiagnosed with an STD and upon speaking with my doctor, she kept pushing for me to be on birth control. I had already discussed with her multiple times over multiple appointments (pretty much none of them even having been about sexual health, yet she brought it up every time) that birth control was not something I had any interest in taking, and she continuously remained very pushy and judgmental over the fact that I didn't want to use it. Overall, my experience with them has been poor, uncomfortable, and difficult. I would personally recommend UNC (or Carolina Primary care down the road if you're looking for something more local), who has a greatly accessible and vast team of doctors and networks as well as specialists who truly care and put a lot of effort into their patients. I understand that these bigger corporations attract more skilled practitioners, which can leave places like Avance Care with a lesser quality of care, but there is still a certain level of medical care that a person deserves that I think Avance Care at this time has been incapable of delivering.

Ive been a patient at Avance care for many years. I almost left for another provider years ago due to the office being disorganized and unprofessional in Garner. However, I started seeing Dr. Cox in West Cary and then Morrisville. While hes been one of the best primary care doctors Ive had, something has changed in the past 6 months or so and the office seems incapable of coordinating anything internally. Had to go without meds for about a month in Nov/December because of a mess-up that no one seemed to be able to understand/fix. Managed to get the meds last month, and now back to square one with the same type of mess up (sending the wrong prescription) I had to deal with before. The medical assistants seem to not grasp any of the info I give them and none of it ever seems to make it up the chain. Any info left with the front desk is not relayed or miscommunicated. Someone may respond to the internal message system the following week, but usually thats also not making it to the primary care provider. Regardless, everyone there will try to blame it on insurance or the pharmacy, but its not like Im incapable of speaking to either of those. The problem always leads back to Avance Care every.single.time. Its time to move on, I guess, but Im sad Ill have to begin looking for a new primary care doctor. It sucks to find one you trust and then have to leave because the office itself cannot function.

Moved here from Utah and was worried about finding another Doctor, let alone one that understood the GLBTQIA+ community, but Dr Thompson made it one of my easiest decisions! Never have to worry about my Healthcare both physical and mental. Dr P Thompson has always been amazing with listening to my concerns and understanding my Bipolar issues. The staff is always tentative and helpful with why I am visiting. The blood draw today was one of my easiest and PAINLESS I have had as they didn't have to dig for a vain and hardly hurt. THANK YOU for taking care of my health over the years, understanding the concerns of a GLBTQIA+ patient, taking care of my health during Covid.....and still can't believe the painless ease of this blood draw!

Shoutout for Dr. Sehr for seeing me over the weekend and truly helping and caring for my wellbeing. Refreshing and humbling in this era when doctors are so busy and rarely call patients themselves. Keep up the good work, Avance Team
