Parents please do your research first before putting your children in ABA therapy so glad I did

They have been wonderful with being able to set my son an appointment. But one thing I disagree with is me feeling like I have to chase then down. I have to constantly call to get any updates and when I do call, I get different responses just to get me off the phone.

would not recommend Highlights Healthcare.
My partner's daughter received ABA services at the New Bern center. While they went well in the beginning, she was eventually placed with an RBT that she strongly disliked. (The RBT did nothing wrong, she just wasn't a good fit).
Upon bringing this to Highlights' attention, we did not feel that our concerns were well-received. The nature of our concerns were greatly misconstrued; where we said "the therapist is a bad fit", Highlights' heard "the therapist is abusive". We made no such assertion.
The child was then discharged from therapy with about 24 hours notice, without a referral to another provider, or sufficient time to locate other services (despite our request for time to do so) - which in my opinion, is strongly unethical. We were given a list of other providers and left to our own devices.
The discharge notice claimed that we as a family were "unable to support ABA", when in fact we were always deeply engaged and willing to participate. If there were issues severe enough to lead to discharge, we feel that we were never informed of their existence or severity.
There were other factors involved, and we could have improved with some things on our end. However, the abrupt discharge alone, in my opinion, speaks volumes to a lack of ethics and compassion on the part of the organization. We felt like they were more interested in getting rid of a potential "problem" than considering the best needs of an Autistic child.
We escalated our concerns to the highest possible level. While we were listened to, they ultimately refused to change their decision, or make a meaningful admission that missteps were taken.
I know that resources for this type of therapy are limited in the area, but I would recommend looking elsewhere.
At the end of the day, I am hurt and tremendously disappointed by our experience.
