I am so grateful that the owners of Hunter House have opened their lovely historical home to visitors. Their warm welcome and hospitality made my overnight stay comfortable and relaxing. I look forward to visiting again.

The proprietors - Dan and Sallilee - were lovely hosts, very helpful, and cooked amazing breakfasts. The room was great and bed was exceptionally comfortable. Well be back when we visit family in the area again.

Loved the stay while we were there for the spring race in martinsville. Didn't realize after we left that Dan and Sally accused every family and the actual Nascar race team that stayed of stealing and then charged us all for missing towels that I know my girlfriend and I didn't have. Only found out about any negative when we decided to stay again only to have Sally explain she wants no race weekend people because the teams and families stole towels or something. We were quiet, didn't even have them make us breakfast. Cleaned up before leaving and thought we were happy. Great location, thought they were good hosts. Hell of a thing to just accuse everyone of such garbage because you don't know who hurt you. Sad to hear that someone took advantage of you, but we didn't and I'm pissed we have to take the wrath of that ignorance. Do not recommend this place even though I once might have. Also allowed their dog to just roam free and into the room we stayed in. It got into the food from our restaurant dinner and got it all over the room. She actually had the nerve to insinuate it was out fault. Perfect example of older people trying to keep up with times and failing entirely and then acting like the ignorant is people they are. Disappointed and offended. Stay elsewhere
Rooms: Comfortable rooms, tiny tv, bed was really nice
Nearby activities: There are none
Food & drinks: Their dog went into our room while we were out and ate our food getting it all over and she blamed us for this as well.
Noteworthy details: Charged us for towels that we don't have and said not a single word to us even knowing that the race teams and teenagers were who she suspected of taking things. We treated you with respect only to have to show us none in the end. You smoke on the surface and then you stab us on the back and don't even have the decency to say a word to us in the end. Unprofessional and immature way of going about a business where you need all of us who stay with you. Don't recommend staying here.

Great B&B in Madison, NC. Dan and Sally are gracious hosts! We enjoyed sitting in the front porch and chatting for awhile before they sent us off for a short walk to Main Street for dinner. Their recommendations were spot on and perfect after a long day on the road.
The room was clean with everything we needed, including a very comfortable bed!
Dan prepared us a delicious breakfast of home made muffins, fresh fruit and an omelette big enough for us to share (so we did!).
After breakfast, they walked us out to our bike to wish us off as if we were old friends. Maybe now we are!
If you're in the area, make a reservation and stay at the Hunter House B&B. You won't regret it!

I was not a guest staying overnight, I came here for a family breakfast after my sisters wedding in Madison. I cant speak to the pricing or rooms themselves but what I can speak to is the absolute nightmare of a man that greeted us when we got there. He immediately interrogated us as to our relation to the married couple and told us to wake up everyone upstairs before I blow my cork. He then proceeded to complain about the guests there (aka my family members) and told them he better not see those dogs around his house even though they are dog friendly and they paid the pet fee. The breakfast was super uncomfortable and we were obviously not welcome there by him. The woman was nice and made good food, but overall we left early because frankly I couldnt keep my mouth shut much longer. Heard from my sister afterward that he had a breakdown and was throwing things and yelling so Im glad we left when we did.
