I went to this clinic repeatedly for 2 years and was paying out of pocket for lab work to maintain my blood pressure medication. I had applied for sliding scale fees and paid large amounts up until my most recent visit. I had my card out and was prepared to pay before I left the building on the day of my last visit. I was told I owed nothing at the time and assumed my fee was covered due to sliding scale cost and being a regular client who had frequently paid large fees out of pocket. Months later, I received a very rude letter informing me that my balance for 5 bills was far past due and liable to go into collections. There was one large bill for assessing the ongoing medical issue and 4 charges of 1 cent for taking my blood pressure and asking me about my meds. The letter went that extra mile to inform me that this bill was MY responsibility, which is disrespectful and condescending. It's especially obnoxious when I had already asked for the bill and wanted to pay it on site the same day.
