        Dr Amy and her whole staff at Smiles by Design in Kernersville are AMAZING. Ive taken my oldest there for the last 6 years and my youngest for the last 3. I wouldn't consider taking my kiddos anywhere else!!! (The pic is from the visit with my 3yo today)

        Edit: still love the dental team but front office communication has been steadily declining. I was without dental insurance for about 3 months. I called and got the cash price for a cleaning. However, when I arrived I learned that the price I was quoted didn't include the fee for the dentist. Umm, that's frustrating but I paid it. Does everyone know that the dentist's fee is in addition to a semi-annual cleaning? That's the reason I called to ask about the cost. Most recently I received a text message from them that pricing increases were going into effect. Is that really the way you want to communicate such news? I am actively seeking a new practice. I don't like to leave a negative review but feel this time warrants it. Previous review: My previous dental practice did not value my patronage. They sent me appt reminders via email and text, then when I arrived told me that I did not have an appointment?!! I had heard from several others that Smiles by Design was the best place to go for care, so I scheduled an appt. Dr. Ward and her team are wonderful! They are gentle and detail oriented. I can honestly say that I don't have anxiety about going to the dentist any more! What a relief! I highly recommend this practice!

      At Smiles by Design, it is our practice to be very forthcoming with our fees, especially when our patients do not have dental insurance. An appointment with the hygienists always includes the fee for the dental prophylaxis or cleaning, a fee for the dentist’s exam, and possibly a fee for x-rays. We apologize if you received information regarding the dental prophylaxis only. If this was the case, the front office must have understood your question as asking about this portion only. We often work with patients who need to skip one of their exams and would have been happy to extend this courtesy to you if we knew there was an issue. The ADA’s recommendation and standard of care is that patients be checked by their dentist twice a year. This part of the appointment will have a charge at every dental office. The recent text message regarding our fee increase that was sent to our patients was to keep them informed before their arrival at our office for their next appointment, avoiding any unfortunate surprises. We felt the text message was the most economical and universal way to reach all of our patients, thus saving them the added cost of postage. We really struggled with the decision to raise our fees, but without fee increases, we cannot purchase the most up-to-date equipment, or attend the necessary continuing education, to provide the best care possible for our patients.
