Courtyard by Marriott Charlotte Lake Norman

Showed up to check in and nobody was at the desk. Knocked, said hello multiple times and even called the hotel phone number. Nothing. My wife had to go behind the counter into the back and knock on the door for the girl to come out after we stood there for 15 minutes. We booked a king with a pullout and were told none were available. After some chit chat we were told they had one after all. The walls are paper thin, the shower caulk had mildew on it and the hallway smells like dog pee. The elevator also looks like its from a hospital in the 80s. We inquired about breakfast in the morning and were told its pay as you go not sure what that means, but it wasnt included. This was the first and only time Ive stayed at a Marriott property and it will be the last.

Hotel looked like a great property to reserve for our 3 night stay. This Courtyard had nice size rooms, but the cleaning of rooms and food available was not would be expected at a Courtyard Rooms: Rooms are really nice. Rooms are not cleaned daily. Had to go to front desk to get anything we needed 2 of the 3 nights we stayed there. Food & drinks: One of the reasons we selected this property was that they showed they had breakfast and evening food options. They had no hot breakfast menu items to order. Only coffee and pastry available. Website and pictures in hotel showing alcohol in the evening, but they do not offer it

Great customer service. While other amenities are good and at Marriott quality, the customer service front desk was extremely helpful. I checked in late at about 11.30 pm, they still patiently answered all my questions. Next day they helped me use the conference room for an important client meeting. Overall a very nice place made even better by the front desk.
