Can not recommend Guilford Counseling and Jade enough! I was very hesitate and scared to start a journey with therapy as my first experience with therapy years ago was not a great one. Im proud that I made the step because the experience this time ended up being amazing. Jade made me feel so comfortable and empowered. I was able to finally face things that I needed to and truly heal and its all because of them and the process I went through. If you are looking for a therapist, especially relating to trauma I highly recommend Jade with Guilford Counseling.

I had the exact same experience as the review below me. The front desk has a condescending tone and doesn't seem to have any empathy. You would think they would have someone more compassionate handling the phones. She should do other work in the office and not interact with anyone (her name is Cynthia I believe). I expressed urgency about getting in and when I completed the paperwork online, I heard nothing back until I reached out again. She said "we've been trying to reach you by phone and email" which was a lie because they hadn't reached out to me until I did first. Luckily, they don't take my insurance because I really didn't have a good feeling about them anyway. I just was referred by the doctor that manages my medication. Maybe someone else will have a better experience but the communication I had over the phone with the receptionist was extremely off putting. If you feel like that when you speak to someone there, I would say just look elsewhere.

Unfortunately, I didn't receive treatment here because Guilford Counseling made it difficult for me to do so. I reached out to Guilford Counseling to inquire about receiving services as a new patient, first online, then followed up the next day with a voicemail. I finally received a call back from a member of their admin team 5 days/30+ business hours later. I explained that I am currently under the treatment of a psychiatrist but need a new therapist since I recently moved and am working through some trauma-related issues. They informed me that there was an intake process where I needed to fill out a form to see if they accepted my insurance or if I would be self-pay. I'd also be placed on a waitlist that would match me with a therapist. However, matching wouldn't guarantee availability meaning there would be another wait to get an appointment scheduled. This sounded somewhat complicated and not ideal compared to my past experiences with mental health providers, but I agreed to go ahead. They said they would email me the form(s) I needed to fill out following our conversation. I checked spam, checked my other email thinking I may have given them the wrong address. Waited two days. Nothing. No call back to check in or confirm if I received them. I debated following up but considered their initial lack of responsiveness, difficult and disordered intake process, and general lack of care for someone who is in a degraded mental state as reprehensible. This is not an organization I would recommend based on my first impression. Please find help elsewhere.
