EJ's Soul Food & Vegan Bar & Grill

I visited EJ's with a friend for a late lunch. As we perused the menu and the Sunday menu, we were excited about items on the Sunday menu that were not available. I ordered the crab cakes that I decided on prior to arrival. They arrived with the yams (sweet potatoes) and collard greens, my selected sides. The crab cakes were more like large car balls (3/5), sweet potatoes (5/5) although they were half juice. Less juice, more potatoes was my preference. The collards I will give 3/5 as they lacked seasoning. The restaurant wasn't busy on the Saturday of my visit, around 3:30 PM. One of the staff members assured us that on Sunday's, every seat is taken. Unfortunately, the restaurant is a ways for me so I won't plan to visit for a while.

1st time visiting. Love, love, loved it!!! We were made aware of this Gem by one or our long-time friends, and it did not disappoint. The seasoning on the food... Wow!! I stood and looked into the kitchen to see if my Grandma Judy (Rest her soul) was back there. But... When the owner said that there was no meat used to season the veggie.. (Collards, RedBeans, Cabbage, etc). I said nope, not my grandma!! It was very good and we will return!! Vegetarian options: They have a Vegan menu.

It was FANTASTIC!!! I'm vegan and he's not, and we ate here for Easter Brunch. We both got chicken and waffles (I got the VEGAN option) and we were both so happy with our food!!! Perfect waffles for both of us not too dense not too light held up to the syrup and chicken. The vegan chick'n was a perfect compliment. I also tried the collards, yams and red beans and rice. Everything was delicious! The vegan collards almost taste like they had made them with neckbones lol. I will be back the next time I'm anywhere near here. So so good!!! Felt like my grandma had made me vegan sides (she's from Georgia so she don't make anything vegan lol).

My husband and I came there for the first time on March 29th. We enjoyed everything. Food was delicious. Our waiter was great. Everyone there was friendly. The only thing was the price I thought the lunch menu would be a little cheaper. Other than that our whole Experience was awesome. Can't wait to try the breakfast. Thanks
