Posting anonymously as to avoid harassment of my friends that still receive services from this hair salon. I promised I am a real client. The last time I went to Jabots was over a year ago. I walked in with hair down to mid-waist and I walked out with hair that barely passed the top part of my chest. I've had my hair blonde for a long time. However, I had always taken care of my hair and before this appointment I had no damage whatsoever. I was terrified of my hair falling out, and for six years now every time that I have bleached my hair, I have received a consult before hand just to make sure the integrity of my hair is strong and healthy enough to tolerate the bleaching process. This was not something that could've been caused by me. We had trimmed my hair before bleaching and only took about half an inch off the ends, so besides this nothing was cut off. In addition to this, when this hairstylist started "detangling" my hair after washing. She brushed my hair so hard that it was literally lifting me out of my chair. I can only guess that this also didn't help whatever problem was going on after the bleaching. I know that I should've said something walking out, but I have always been non-confrontational, and I hate hurting people's feelings but honestly that is a decision I have regretted everyday since. Not only was my hair extremely short, the entire top layer of my hair was splitting and broken. It honestly looked absolutely horrible. I saw multiple people afterwards to decide what the next step should be in order to maintain any integrity that I still had in my hair. I was told time and time again that this incident could've only happened if too high of a developer was used, or if it had sat too long. The bottom line is that my hair melted off. Now, I know I waited a long time to say something about this. Like I said, I hate saying negative things about people but this is still effecting me almost 18 months later. My hair has hardly grown since. I had to dye it back brown because I couldn't maintain it anymore. I have so much damage past the little bit of growth I've had at my root. I'm not going to shave my head, or cut all of my hair off so this is something I will have to deal with for years. I attach a lot of identity to my hair and this is something that has destroyed me. I have sought out every solution, and there literally isn't one. I'm not naming the specific hair stylist because I don't want to effect someones source of income. This post is also not written with the intention of Jabot's losing costumers, I know plenty of people that love going here. I enjoyed speaking to the stylist, and she was always very nice. However, whoever owns Jabots needs to be aware of what happened to me, and take neccessary precautions to ensure this doesn't happen to anyone else.
