When I first started my business back in 1985, I considered lawyers a necessary evil. I admit I was that guy. About 10 years into my business we ran into a situation that changed my mind. But still, I have always been careful to keep from running up the legal fees. I've know of Forrest Firm for some time and used them for some minor work, but recently engaged them to start a local venture fund. I have been working with David Morris, in the Durham office. His knowledge of Venture and Private Equity has been instrumental to getting our fund started. I have spoken with other funds and their experience and cost, and our costs have been in line or lower than what others have spent to start their funds.
