Strategic Evaluations

SEI's commitment to assist our program in the evaluation process which leads to nurturing the next generation of cancer researchers is commendable. Over the past several years, we have partnered with SEI to develop a comprehensive evaluation program for our cancer research training program, Yes for CURE. SEI has been able to enhance the evaluation in key areas such as student assessment, program efficacy and research skill development. Their hands-on approach has provided the needed boost to ensure ongoing program enhancements and continued success. It has been a pleasure to collaborate with SEI.

Strategic Evaluations, Inc. (SEI) is the program assessment lead for the Emerge Program, a multi-million dollar (National Science Foundation) effort to increase diversity and inclusion in the Society for Freshwater Science. From the moment we contacted SEI about collaborating on this project (i.e., the grant writing stage), they have been an exemplary partner. Dawayne Whittington assembled a committed and highly capable team to work closely with our project. We have monthly (or more frequent) virtual meetings to review project activities and adjust planning as necessary. Staff have consistently been engaged and flexible in co-designing survey instruments. Insightful and professionally developed assessment reports are delivered for project activities on a near quarterly basis. SEI staff regularly attend live program events to conduct focus group interviews with program participants. Furthermore, budget planning has remained a transparent and efficient process. SEI services have so far exceeded expectation in every regard and we absolutely plan to continue working with them in the future.

We have had an incredible experience working with Mr. Dawayne Whittington and Ms.Kelly Fraidenburg from Strategic Evaluations as part of our team supporting UNC EDGE genomics. We have been working with the company since 2021 when they helped us develop the evaluation plan that helped us get our training grant funded. They bring an exceptional level of professionalism as well as a wealth of knowledge to our team. We would not have been able to do this without them. Over the years they have helped us both develop different types of customized evaluations and implement them effectively for our training program. Mr. Dawayne Whittington in particular continually goes beyond my expectations of what a company would offer to where his passion for our program and contributions have been an irreplaceable asset to our program and his collaborative approach to his work has really made this a partnership effort as opposed to just a company providing a list of services. In addition to being fully adept at what they offer to do, they are also genuinely nice people to work with. I highly recommend this exceptional company!

Dawayne and the entire Strategic Evaluations team have been fantastic to work with. SEI supported our comprehensive program evaluation. They helped us shape our evaluation aims, organize our data, and ran top of the line statistical analysis. We are incredibly pleased with the quality of the evaluation and the sleek illustration of the evaluation findings were an added bonus. The evaluation results yielded meaningful insights that we're already implementing. Our program is now better positioned for success, thanks to their invaluable contributions. SEI also partnered with us on an NSF grant proposal submission. Their contributions were crucial to honing the aims of the proposal and their expertise lent critical credibility to the proposal. The entire SEI team are experts in what they do and we were impressed with their level of professionalism and guidance. Communication was seamless. They kept us updated at every step, ensuring we were well-informed and involved in the analysis process. As a non-profit, we appreciated how they worked within our budget to identify how they could best apply their expertise and what we could do in-house with their guidance. Their collaborative approach made the entire process not only productive but also enjoyable and educational.
