I have been involved with Hands On Charlotte for over 10 years and have worked with Doug Macomb, the Senior Manager of Individual Volunteer Engagement, on countless occasions over that time. I have always found Doug to be polite, professional, and deeply dedicated to helping others through HOC. I have also heard from numerous volunteers who have gone through the volunteer orientation led by Doug how much they liked him and enjoyed the experience. HOC is fortunate to have such a great representative as the face of the organization to so many new volunteers. I can't say enough good things about Doug, HOC and its impact on the community - I hope folks will sign up for orientation and find out firsthand!

I have worked with Doug and Hands On Charlotte for a number of years and have always found him to be pleasant and helpful. Hands On Charlotte takes the time to interview their volunteers in detail in order to connect volunteers to an activity that best suits their talents and interests. Doug provides feedback from the volunteers to help agencies look at their processes and see if there is a way to improve the service they offer volunteers. I think Doug and Hands on Charlotte go to great lengths to be sure there are no surprizes on either side. Agencies know the abilities and interests of the volunteers who come to help, and volunteers have an idea of what will be expected of them.

Our "for good" organization has partnered with Hands on Charlotte for over two years and we have only great things to say about the organization, leadership, management and awesome volunteers. I just read the review posted by Robin Huud, and respect her opinion and understand where she is coming from. We all have good and bad days. There is no benefit in disparaging someone like this in a public forum. I feel compelled to share my opinion, based of what I have experienced over years in working with Doug and the organization. He has been nothing but professional in all our dealings. May this incident not detract from the mission that Doug upholds and more importantly, his passion and heart to serve others less fortunate in our community

I am so glad to have found Hands On Charlotte! At the volunteer orientation meeting, I mentioned to Doug Macomb my interest in teaching ESL. Through Doug's broad reach into the Charlotte community, he was able help me make a connection, and now I have a great volunteer job teaching an Advanced English Conversation class. Doug is a very dedicated individual, intent on serving the community by matching volunteers seeking meaningful work to the needs of the Charlotte population. Generally, Hands On Charlotte posts a monthly calendar where we can see various projects in the community and sign up. I usually find several places to help each month. Doug is organized, has a super memory, and very knowledgeable. No one can help everyone, but Doug helps serve the needs of hundreds of people here in Charlotte.
