I was connected to APS through my employer's EAP program. Communication was extremely slow, full of typos/errors, and hasty. No way to get through by phone, voicemail tag and email responses only. The intake paperwork process is also unprofessional, not at all client-centered, and asks client to go into the first session without any knowledge of the person who will provide service - no informed consent or professional disclosure paperwork offered. When I asked for these things and for clarification about issues with the other documents that I was asked to sign online, my communications were ignored. The day before my first session, however, I got an email cancelling the appointment saying that they do not provide telephone sessions, only video. I tried to clarify if the language from the EAP was "telehealth" as that includes video and I never heard back. My entire experience led me to question the ethical nature and professionalism of this practice. Even if we could clear up the EAP issue, at this point, I would not choose to schedule an appointment with thme.
